I can't wait to fall in love with Madonna again. I can feel it coming after my Britney / Girls Aloud mood is over.

I love love her intro in the disco ball and the Future Lovers/I Feel Love combo and the theatrical nature of it. with the equestrian theme. And I love Let It Will Be remix with Madonna and her jerky movements and throwing herself all over the runway. I, too, love other popstars but I always come back to Madonna, too.
The arrangements of all the songs was really spectacular, and Madonna was beautiful.

No one can really touch her as a popstar. She's one of those people, kinda like Brit, who isn't really that remarkably talented at anything but just has the IT factor by the fucking bucket loads. And yes... still. She could do without the desperation though - it kinda makes her seem a bit insecure.

Madonna is a far superior singer as well as an amazing dancer who knocks ten shades of shit out of people half her age. She has a five star business brain which has sold her brand for a few decades now. Her albums have MADONNA all over them - they sound like Madonna and nobody else, with the exception of Hard Candy and even then it was her first real slip of her career iMO.
So yes, they dont compare.
The album where I think she is "missing" the most is "Bedtime Stories"..she's barely there.
I can hear her draping herself all over Hard Candy, and the albums structure is so similar to "Confessions"..dancey/fun at the beginning, moving to more spiritual/ preachy towards the end...

I was saying that people don't regard these as feminine characteristics, I did not agree with that view. I admire Madonna because she had the bravery to confront gender stereotypes and taboos. Women were expected to be told what to do and do it, Madonna through music and videos etc broke through the misogyny of the patriarchal music industry and society in general in the 80s and 90s.

And the girl, save in the beginning, can't sing live anymore and never had the dance skills Madonna had, who was a dancer in the beginning of her career. Plus, she never changes her look. God has Ariel fricking Levy and Germaine Greer invaded the board. Chill out. If you had read my post you would have noticed I used speech marks around the word male...just because Madonna has a lot of facets to her personality which are generally considered or identified as male doesn't mean I agree with her being percieved in that way.
Oh but actually I'd be inclined to agree with that. Madonna isn't the best singer ever, the best actress ever or the best dancer ever. But she's got insane amounts of self-determination, business and PR skills, charisma, patience and work ethics. None of those count as "talent", at least in the artistic meaning of the word, but they have ensured that she would be able to take what she had and turn it into something enormous. Leona Lewis is a better singer than Madonna, but somehow I don't see people discussing Lewis's career choices, boyfriends and new records 20 years from now.SpanishEyes said:
