Madonna

She / Her
Finally got to the Confessions era in watching all her music video chronologically and the turn things take around Get Together / Hey You is truly whiplash inducing. I'm not sure if I had never seen the version of the Celebration video with fans dancing before or if I just repressed it.

For some reason the Facebook algorithm decided to show me a Daily Mail article about David wearing the Adidas dress. I didn't click on the link but good grief the Facebook replies were just awful and judgmental. People really feel comfortable unleashing homophobic and transphobic comments even knowing they're not anonymous. All over a dress.

I see this kind of comment all the time on PopJustice, and believe me I feel what you're feeling completely. But why are you choosing to amplify these losers' messages by posting about it here? All these posts do is share absolute shite from a garbage newspaper (or Twitter, or Instagram, or...) and inflict it on the rest of us who, frankly, have better taste that to read shitty comment sections.

Believe me, I do not come here to read "ALL POSITIVE ALL THE TIME!!!1!" (like, yes, drag her for the NFTs, the endless attention on the Frozen remixes, that's all beyond fair game) but don't repeat this kind of trash here. I beg of you, please don't. I know you're trying to defend her, I really do, but go do it there.

I didn't share any of the actual comments. Also I'm not sure what's with the uncalled for line about having better taste. As I said in my post, it showed up in my Facebook feed. I certainly wasn't looking for it nor did I (or would I) engage with the commenters.

But if you flip the situation around, Madonna’s power is so vast that complete strangers feel the need to denigrate her from a distance on the internet. All while she lives a life of luxury and remains unbothered.

The Daily Mail trash talks any woman over 40!
It's really sad.
