Madonna

I like that so far the reception and consensus for the remasters is that they're great. I worried a little that some of the work could be a little "shoddy" but everything seems fine so far and they're not pushing on all cylinders yet.

I'd love we could get more about the music videos as well. Not sure if they have some alternative versions and that kind of stuff, but would be cool.

The Pet Shop Boys are releasing a collection of their videos on Blu Ray. I'm not sure if they will be remastered for Blu Ray in true HD but I hope so.

For Madonna - and I've said this before - she really needs a Blu Ray or, in an ideal situation 4K - of her videos in true HD. Not another DVD. Her videos are too important to not have that treatment.

I think we'd definitely get a Blu Ray, at the very least, if there's a physical release of her videos but real 4K remasters using the original camera negatives won't be happening anytime soon because they've already invested in cheaper AI upscales.

For some videos a true 4K remaster would be a nightmare i.e. Bedtime Stories with all of its special effects probably mastered/finished in in 2K (max, to go back and redo them now in 4K just isn't realistic.

But most of her videos shot on film deserve the full treatment and have the original camera negatives scanned in 4K and then a new digital 4K master created. They'd look incredible.

Hopefully the camera negatives are in her storage room/facility.

So why did Warner UK decided to randomly re-release Holiday in 1991? It was a slow Madonna year? Why Holiday and not something more recent like Keep It Together or something off I'm Breathless?
In the early 90s a lot of 80s acts released greatest hits and promoted it by re-releasing their hit singles in the UK and it seemed to do the job of promoting the album, Soft Cell, Simple Minds, Talk Talk etc, so I’m guessing this was Warners strategy after releasing the 2 new songs.

With her rereleases I'm guessing they'll skip soundtracks, so I wonder how we'll get spruced up versions of the Who's That Girl tracks, not to mention the great Causing a Commotion remixes. They seem destined to be lost forever in time.

If only they'd put these remasters up online with The Look Of Love and Can't Stop added...

Forgive me if this question is really stupid, but can physical media like vinyl support Dolby Atmos? I'm just wondering whether the physical deluxe editions (which I hope are still forthcoming) will sound as crisp as the Immaculate Collection Atmos versions.

They got Gambler on streaming, but something like Who’s That Girl with the other half being other artists might make things more difficult.

I kind of get why they did it the way they did but it would have made so much more sense to have all the Madonna songs on side one of the vinyl of 'Who's that girl'. I guess barely anyone would have flipped to side two but, well, everyone bought the album for her stuff.

Surely an EP with just her songs and/or a few remixes is possible? Or tack that onto the end of the True Blue reissue as an additional disc.

Well actually the press release said soundtracks were part of the reissue project. I think the best thing should be a collection of all her soundtracks songs with maybe the unreleased from Vision Quest etc.

Crazy For You
Gambler
Warning Signs (unreleased)
Into The Groove
Desperately Seeking Susan (Unreleased)
Live To Tell
Who’s That Girl
Causing A Commotion
The Look Of Love
Can’t Stop
Dick Tracy (written by Leonard. Who knows if it was recorded though).
This Used To Be My Playground
I’ll Remember
You Must Love Me
Beautiful Stranger
American Pie
Time Stood Still
Die Another Day
Masterpiece

+Remixes and alternate versions like the full version of Beautiful Stranger.

That may have mainly referred to the full Madge ones like I'm Breathless and Evita though?

Maybe but it’s a possibility (the WTG Ep was released after all)

All in all, the new pact includes 17 studio albums plus singles, soundtrack recordings, live albums, and compilations.

It's nice that somebody at Warner UK was thinking of the fans who'd miss these singles back then by shoving them out backing the "Holiday" re-release, but it would have been nicer if a digital edition of The Immaculate Collection was expanded to finally include them. Were these Q-Sound mixes on the EP too, or just the originals?
Yes, an digital EP of this would be most welcome, especially to have Causing A Commotion remastered.
