Well it’s a totally different mix, the one one on digital is the U.S. Remix of Lucky Star.
That may be a biT too ambitious but a box set with the Immaculate Collection, the Holiday Collection and a Bluray of the videos is a must.
I know it was remixed for IC, but what differences can you spot for Lucky Star? For me, Borderline (IC Mix) is very different from the 1983 album and remixed versions, but on Lucky Star not so much.

The IC mixes are all very bright and "spruced up" from the originals. She probably prefers these mixes but they stick out like sore thumbs, especially Lucky Star which goes on for 5 hours as opposed to the tight edits of the other songs.

Lucky Star is basically an extended version of the album version (on the digital audio) . The original Borderline was remixed with Q Sound and it’s an edit of the album version (1 minute shorter more or less).

It doesn't make sense. Lucky Star IC Mix is 3:37, shorter than the album version. Apart from the short lenght, the biggest difference I get is the stereo surrounding effect on the intro. (like "What are you looking at?" on Vogue)
Borderline IC Mix feels very different from the album version with the added cowbells.

With the wrong mixes for Lucky Star and Borderline being used for the Dolby Atmos remaster, it's a shame these two unique mixes now seem destined to disappear forever from the digital fronts.
I would sell a kidney for the inevitably inflated price. Imagine trying to collect all the bonus singles!
What I don't understand is how they keep getting it wrong on digital with these two Immaculate versions but not on physical where it's always correct?

Because it’s probably not a mistake. Mike Dean used the multitracks of those two songs to create the Dolby mix. So he used the album version of Borderline and the US Remix of Lucky Star. Now, maybe the original multitracks of those two songs from Immaculate are lost, but as I already said these versions were always on the digital album. It’s been almost 20 years and they were never changed.

- In 2005, Madonna purposely tinkered with the tracklist and chose to replace the shorter Lucky Star with the extended one and the cowbell'd Borderline with a version close to the album version.

- They actually messed it up in 2005 but instead of fixing that by issuing a NEW Immaculate Collection album for the Dolby Atmos mix, they decided to upgrade the existing one (remastering the songs, adding some new details, but keeping the same lenghts - this could be a Apple restriction regarding stereo/Atmos songs)
I respect that she may like these versions more but I wish she had kept the integrity of IC instead of messing with the tracklist, the album versions exist on the original albums. Immaculate Collection was something else.

It’s hardly the end of the world, the original version is on cd, cassette and vinyl. I also doubt Immaculate will get a deluxe version, unless they release a Bluray Audio Disc with the Atmos (the plan for the a aborted 2003 boxset was to release all her albums on audio dvd remastered in 5.1).
I’m totally confused. I’ve deleted Immaculate Collection and re downloaded it from Apple Music and now it says Dolby Atmos but i checked the end of Papa Don’t Preach and it doesn’t have the extra ad lib. Is the Apple Music version different to the youtube upload? I want to listen to the Atmos versions via Apple.
Also, I’m wishing more than ever that Who‘s That Girl (and Causing A Commotion) was on this. Would love to hear freshened up versions.

That mmm has always been there but it does pop a bit more on this version doesn’t it?
Dolby Atmos on Apple Music only works with certain headphones/speakers. Otherwise it will play the stereo version. The YouTube version is a stereo ‘preview’ of the multichannel Atmos version but not quite the real thing
Apple Music carries Stereo / Dolby Atmos versions of each song. They have the same running time, but are different in contents. If your device/phone/boombox can't handle Dolby Atmos, they will provide the stereo version.
