Madonna

Thanks guys. I’m listening through my ipad. So I guess my next question is how do I hear it in Dolby Atmos? I’m thinking of getting new wireless headphones anyway.

EDIT: I’ve changed my Dolby Atmosphere settings from “Automatic” to “Always” and it’s sorted it.

I’m totally confused. I’ve deleted Immaculate Collection and re downloaded it from Apple Music and now it says Dolby Atmos but i checked the end of Papa Don’t Preach and it doesn’t have the extra ad lib. Is the Apple Music version different to the youtube upload? I want to listen to the Atmos versions via Apple.

Also, I’m wishing more than ever that Who‘s That Girl (and Causing A Commotion) was on this. Would love to hear freshened up versions.
Always thought it was mad that Who's That Girl was left off. Both an US and UK #1 after all and a nice bridge between the True Blue and Like A Prayer eras.

It was probably too similar (the Latin sound) with La Isla Bonita. Also they probably wanted to sell the soundtracks, since her songs were the reason people were interested.

It’s hardly the end of the world, the original version is on cd, cassette and vinyl. I also doubt Immaculate will get a deluxe version, unless they release a Bluray Audio Disc with the Atmos (the plan for the a aborted 2003 boxset was to release all her albums on audio dvd remastered in 5.1).

They really should dig these remasters out of the vault and move forward with the boxset, although in a BluRay format instead of DVD-A, obviously.

This remains a perfect collection that I just adore. It's probably tied into a big dose of nostalgia for me but even just seeing that artwork takes me to a happy place.

Love every track but 'Borderline' is the one...probably has to be my favourite Madonna song ever?!

It's nice that somebody at Warner UK was thinking of the fans who'd miss these singles back then by shoving them out backing the "Holiday" re-release, but it would have been nicer if a digital edition of The Immaculate Collection was expanded to finally include them. Were these Q-Sound mixes on the EP too, or just the originals?

These are just the originals. Always thought it would be cute if this was released on vinyl as a RSD exclusive.

So why did Warner UK decided to randomly re-release Holiday in 1991? It was a slow Madonna year? Why Holiday and not something more recent like Keep It Together or something off I'm Breathless?

Because it was still part of The Immaculate Collection just like Crazy For You:

In the United Kingdom, Holiday has been released three times as a single; in January 1984, reaching number six, and in August 1985 reaching number 2 (only being kept from number one by her own Into the Groove single). Its third release in 1991 included new artwork to promote The Immaculate Collection with a limited edition EP titled The Holiday Collection, which contained tracks omitted from the compilation; this version peaked at number five.

Her Power, really!

The promo campaign went well into 1991 and the Immaculate Collection remained near the top of the charts for a considerable portion of 1991.

The four singles from the album were basically:
Justify My Love
Crazy For You
Rescue Me
Holiday

I guess after the success of Crazy For You (at the time of release promo indicated it was chosen by fan poll as the UK’s favourite Madonna single) it was obvious she could re-release anything at that point and it would make top ten if not top five.

Im not sure why Holiday was chosen again, especially as it had been released twice before and had no video and the released version wasn’t even the remix from the album.

There were even plans to release Into The Groove again later in the year after Holiday. The Immaculate Collection went back up to #3 around that time (August).

The tour video of Holiday seemed to get some kind of promo in the US that year so maybe they were thinking of sticking to re-releasing songs she had done on the Blond Ambition Tour (which ruled out Lucky Star)?

The Immaculate Collection was also promoted as the soundtrack of Truth Or Dare

I like that so far the reception and consensus for the remasters is that they're great. I worried a little that some of the work could be a little "shoddy" but everything seems fine so far and they're not pushing on all cylinders yet.

I'd love we could get more about the music videos as well. Not sure if they have some alternative versions and that kind of stuff, but would be cool.

The Pet Shop Boys are releasing a collection of their videos on Blu Ray. I'm not sure if they will be remastered for Blu Ray in true HD but I hope so.

For Madonna - and I've said this before - she really needs a Blu Ray or, in an ideal situation 4K - of her videos in true HD. Not another DVD. Her videos are too important to not have that treatment.

I think we'd definitely get a Blu Ray, at the very least, if there's a physical release of her videos but real 4K remasters using the original camera negatives won't be happening anytime soon because they've already invested in cheaper AI upscales.

For some videos a true 4K remaster would be a nightmare i.e. Bedtime Stories with all of its special effects probably mastered/finished in in 2K (max, to go back and redo them now in 4K just isn't realistic.

But most of her videos shot on film deserve the full treatment and have the original camera negatives scanned in 4K and then a new digital 4K master created. They'd look incredible.

Hopefully the camera negatives are in her storage room/facility.

In the early 90s a lot of 80s acts released greatest hits and promoted it by re-releasing their hit singles in the UK and it seemed to do the job of promoting the album, Soft Cell, Simple Minds, Talk Talk etc, so I’m guessing this was Warners strategy after releasing the 2 new songs.

With her rereleases I'm guessing they'll skip soundtracks, so I wonder how we'll get spruced up versions of the Who's That Girl tracks, not to mention the great Causing a Commotion remixes. They seem destined to be lost forever in time.

If only they'd put these remasters up online with The Look Of Love and Can't Stop added...
