Magdalena Bay - Imaginal Disk

I'm gonna come back to this, every time I run it from the top I end up on "Watching T.V." with no recollection of what came before.

"Death & Romance" is still a banger.

I'm having the same problem, it's a very good record but it's not sticking that quick, I find myself lost in the middle of it.

My partner has been playing this a lot while gaming (I know) and honestly I think I'm starting to prefer it to Mercurial World? The added guitars across the album are such a great touch and the back half in particular is a chaotic exhilarating journey.

The Ballad of Matt & Mica may be their best song yet, what a closer.

I went back to Mercurial and it's way more eclectic, varietal and punchy in the instrumental department. Disk tends to be more chilled out, mid-tempo and a little homogenous (derogatory). I'm hoping it'll reveal itself over time but it's just not hitting (yet?) for me.

The way that a slimmed down alberm would have moved things a lil more:

1. She Looked like Me!
2. Killing Time
3. Image
4. Death & Romance
5. Fear, Sex
6. Vampire In the Corner
7. Tunnel Vision
8. That's My Floor
9. Cry For Me
10. Angel on a Satellite
11. The Balled of Matt & Mica

Any/All
Be patient girlies! I was ready to call it a slump after my first listen but its really gorgeous and so layered - and actually more consistent than (admittedly, punchier and poppier) Mercurial World. After my fourth or fifth listen there’s hardly anything else I wanna play.

Yeah, the album is just so addictive to me. It's all I have wanted to listen to since it came out. Mercurial World aged like the finest of wine and I feel like this one will too. Can't say which one I prefer because I was obsessed with Mercurial World, but I am not disappointed at all with this follow up.

Gave Mercurial World a spin for the first time yesterday and was a bit blown away. How has it taken me this long!

Before Imaginal all I’d heard from them was Good Intentions, Secret and Top Dog.

I can’t believe how different Mercurial and Imaginal are. Mercurial is sooo like clean, crisp, and poppy, compared to the more brash, acoustic influences on Imaginal.
Dawning of the Season, Hysterical Us, and the final three tracks are on heavy rotation.

Oh you gotta listen to their entire discography, but especially these:
