  1. Just caught up again with everything. I Wanna Be With You is a very worthy winner indeed. It's funny in a way that song won, but the album only received one vote (from me) in the poll at the top of the page. I guess thinking about it, it being #1 makes sense in that it's a great song from the pure pop phase of Mandy's career but would not sound too out of place in the alternative phase of her career.
I never realised until fairly recently too that the version on the Center Stage soundtrack is different from the album version.

@pop3blow2 you've done such an amazing job at the rate. It's been such a positive and nostalgic journey. I used to be a massive Mandy fan in the 90s/00s but looking over my last.fm data (from late 2005 onwards), I realised I had been neglecting her quite a lot. With the help of this rate (and the new music) that has now been rectified. Mandy was my second most played artist of 2019 and When I Wasn't Watching was my second most played song of the year, with Wild Hope being my second most played album! Mandy is now my 14th most played artist since 2005, whereas before 2019 she wasn't even top 50 (ashamedly).

The rate came at the perfect time with the new songs being released and it definitely helped me get into them quicker because I was in such as Mandy place. I wonder how the new songs (and the rest of the album once it's out) would fit in amongst the other songs we rated. For me, When I Wasn't Watching should be top 5, I'd Rather Lose top 20 and Save a Little top 30.

Like I said in my previous post too, I started watching This Is Us finally in 2019, and am really enjoying it. Thanks for bringing Mandy back into my life!

  2. So glad you caught up & thanks for the wonderful thoughts. It was certainly great having you on board for the rate.

As for this rate, well, I guess it's completely over, now.

Other doing some cleanup (typos, etc) for archive purposes & maybe adding one other little post I had in mind, I'm moving on to working on my second rate. If you the thread get bumped at all in the next few months, its because I've decided to add some of the Mandy Annual Posts to the thread... for the years of her career I didn't get to before the reveals started.

Thanks so much to everyone who participated, read along, liked, etc. It was certainly a special first rate hosting experience. Thanks for bearing with me as I figured things out on my first go round!

Remember to buy & stream Sliver Landings on March 6th! (It's an exciting time for Mandy fans)

Also, for those curious, I have started on some preliminary work/planning for my next rate which will be a unique Versus style rate: M2M's Discography vs. Selected Marit Larsen vs. Selected Marion Ravn

If you are interested in participating such a rate, just send a PM so I can add you to my future tag list. If you are a specifically big fan of either Marit or Marion, I may also appreciate input on a final tracklist for each artist when I get to that stage of planning, so keep that in mind & be sure to PM if you're a super fan of either. Also, if you have any friends on PJ you know are fans of either, spread the word.

    Thanks again & be well.

  3. Yes, it's finally happening! A new Mandy album since her last one way back in 2009!
An amazing job with this massive rate @pop3blow2 ! I have quite a lot to read through
and catch up on later but I will gladly follow you into a new rate if it's a artist that I'm
very fond of, and I know I am of Marit Larsen.

  4. Thanks! I bet we're gonna cause some confusion since both of us have changed our avatars to Mandy's new album cover, haha!

  5. Oh I could change it if you want, since you put your avatar to Mandy's new album first.
I felt so hyped for her new album that I immediately did the same thing lol

I can not wait for this new album of hers, I already know that it's going to be incredible
    and worth the wait!

  6. We’re probably fine. I just thought it was funny. I change my avatar like the wind, so I’ll probably change mine soon anyways. Haha!

  7. Remember all that crazy stuff I tried to articulate about my mid-rate essay The Cosmic Duality Of Mandy Moore? Well, a lot of the lyrics & themes Silver Landings has me screaming!

At this point, If I ever tried to write a book about her, I think it'd be hard to not name it Split Chick Reflections. It's legit fascinating to me, how much revisits themes of a dichotomous or duplicitous nature in her work.

Anyways, I'm loving this new album, so ya'll should stream it ASAP. I wanted to chime in quickly about it here, since this rate wrapped fairly recently and talk of this album did percolate through some of the thread.

She has already said she's started writing for the Silver Landings follow-up. If she starts churning out albums that fast again, she might be getting a re-rate faster than I ever dreamed... haha!

  8. Shamelessly bumping my own completed rate thread to promo my new rate. (I don't feel so bad since the genesis of an M2M rate started here. Ha!)

M2M & Mandy certainly have some of the same musical dna (as we discussed here). Likewise some of Marit & Marion's solo stuff is the vein of some of Mandy's too... so even if you're not familiar you might find some new faves.

Please come check it out >

    Thanks!

(Also, how about that Silver Landings? ~whew~)
