Mariah Carey - Caution

Re-listening to Caution lately. I'm astounded by how amazing it is even a year later. It's up there with Butterfly and Daydream to be honest as one of her best/my favorites. I would have loved a video for The Distance, but other than that I think the era and singles were spectacular too. I just can't believe she served us this masterpiece 30yrs into her career. I don't feel worthy.

The Distance will never not be a missed chance. What a song.

Loved that performance on A No No!

I wouldn't call myself a huge fan of Mariah's, but I have a few of the albums (from Emancipation onwards) but Caution I think is up there with one of the best. It's such a cohesive album, and all 10 tracks fit so well together. I've kept coming back to it throughout the year!

Oh wow - what a great performance! She did it almost completely live if I'm not mistaken? There's some parts she usually completely lips that were live with no vocal track present whatsoever.

Even when I saw her in Dublin, she was vocally quite strong but struggled with A No No.

It is so depressing to just see an army of lit up phones recording her. You have Mariah Carey. Live. In front of you. Some twink will upload their version, why would you spend the entire performance filming while trying to see around the 30 other people blocking you with their arms up filming.

Sigh. This generation....

Caution, just makes me the follow up album already. And in a good way!!

Let people enjoy concerts how they want to enjoy them.

Kind of no since this downgrades the experience of others. Ever been to a standing show but all people have their phones out. It is enjoying. It also works against the general atmosphere. So while I know we should everybody live and let live this remains just silly.
Exactly, you aren't gonna get the same live experience from phone footage after all. Just enjoy the moment and the music.

I really do enjoy this album and need to return to it more often.

Also, to chime in on the recording thing, I agree it can be too much. I have some friends that are so worried about taking pictures and sharing videos it really does take away from the experience. However, I think it’s a loaded topic. It’s the times we live in. It’s funny though. You would figure with the internet and everyone having a camera on them nowadays people would spend LESS time doing this at concerts. I mean you can hop online and view pics and videos from concerts so why not enjoy it for yourself. It’s not like you yourself are in the video or on stage with the artist.

I just wanted to let you hookers know that this fucking album just REFUSES to leave my ears even in May 2020.

What a run.

What an album. Honestly, a timeless classic, right up there with Butterfly.

I’m conscious that there’s no need to compare - however...

For R&B Mariah stans like me... Butterfly contains shitty pop ballads while Caution does not.

Caution is absolutely her greatest album (yet) in my opinion - yeah she had higher peaks previously but THE CONSISTENCY!!!
