I was disappointed. I'm not a big fan but I thought she'd deliver. I remember that she was great on Friday Night Project and hoped that might come across. But it didn't. She just looked so nervous and worried. Strange for someone of her stature. Also how fucking SHITE was everyone bar Alexandra? Why didn't they sing something vaguely upbeat. Maybe Touch My Body was a bit too much to ask for but christ..
I'd even venture to say that Alexandra got a bit too much praise that was unwarranted, and I speak as a supporter of Alexandra who thinks she should win the whole thing. She hit one or two off-key notes, but didn't get any criticism. Mind, that was nothing compared to the howlers Rachel managed to hit, and they even underlined those in the recap montages!
Alexandra should have done
Honey. Has Mariah had a better uptempo moment? Can't think of one.
I found the best performance of the whole night to be Ruth's
Knocking On Heaven's Door - one of the two non-Mariah tracks. Matter of fact, I'd say Ruth's two sing-off performances (this one and
Purple Rain) have been the best of the whole series, which makes me wonder (a) why she doesn't deliver anything during the performances within which she's supposed to deliver, and (b) why nobody is waking up and noticing that Rock Chick Ruth should be exploited far more
