Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” has been certified 12x PLATINUM by The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
It has been up-certified every season in each of the last four years:
2019: 6xP
2020: 8xP
2021: 10xP
2022: 12xP
This 12X platinum certification for "All I Want For Christmas Is You" is based on sales/streams from last holiday season. As of December 8, 2022, the song has already added over a million additional streaming units based on just the year-to-date Hits Daily Double-reported audio streams (119,454,000) and Youtube USA video streams (36,770,000 so far in 2022), with the 3 biggest weeks of the year for the song yet to be reported. For Youtube USA, the annual streaming total should reach almost 60 million by New Year's Day based on the year-over-year growth in streams for the song.
Mariah now has the highest certified single in American history among solo female artists (tied with Katy Perry's "Firework") and 15th highest, overall. Eminem has a song with a Rihanna feature at 13X platinum and the Chainsmokers' "Closer" is at 15X platinum (Halsey is not officially credited on the cert).
