Honestly iconic that Mariah is still collecting records in Our Year of the Lord 2022.

The CBS special was a triumph! I was worried by the trailers that had out of sync 90s studio vocals but thankfully those were just rush jobs for the promotion. There were some frenetic camera cuts and her voice was a little low in the mix at times, but otherwise it was great.

It's so gratifying to see her go from the Hallmark Channel a few years ago to a major network prime-time special (live from a sold-out 2 night run at Madison Square Garden no less!).

That's also for sure her doing Christmas Wrapping in the Chick voice which was a treat. She needs to drop that and Away In A Manger with Ms Monroe stat.

It really was a great special. She looked and sounded great (I did find it funny how obvious some of the lip sync moments were, and when it was very clearly lipped, they did a ton of cutting to the audience / shots from behind her ddd). The ratings were pretty solid, too. Nearly 4M people tuned in through the entire 2 hours, and it reached an 0.5 demo in the second hour. It held it's own against the other networks airing the Christmas classics that always do well (Santa Claus Is Coming To Town, The Grinch). It beat them both in total viewers.

I have seen two of her Christmas shows live and from what I saw from this edition this really is her peaking in terms of Christmas shows.
