    Um.

it doesn't sound like the next Hollywood/Primadonna. She needs another pop banger to re-launch herself.

  3. Re: Marina and the Diamonds - Third Album & Singles

After multiple listens, I've decided that the new snippet sounds like a slowie intro that soon builds into a huge singalong bridge and then BOOM! THE CHORUS HITS! AND THERE YOU HAVE IT IT'S MARINA BELTING TO THE MOST EXCITING GENRE OF CUTTING-EDGE ELECTRONIC DANCE MUSIC ("EDM" if you're a toddler) THROBBING SYNTHS AND ASTOUNDING VOCAL ACROBATICS. Or maybe it's Buy the Stars 2.0. We'll see.

This could be - and likely is - a ballad on the album though. Heaven knows we need more of those, because Marina excels at them.

    I'm getting very excited.

So damn excited for this, although I'm not that keen on the snippet from the Instagram video.

I really like the snippet. I just love her voice. She could sing all of the posts in the MKS thread and make it sound amazing.

  7. Re: Marina and the Diamonds - Third Album & Singles

She's really gonna drag this out isn't she.

  8. Re: Marina and the Diamonds - Third Album & Singles

    That sounds incredibly promising.

  9. Re: Marina and the Diamonds - Third Album & Singles

Remember, we had "Fear and Loathing" before "Radioactive".

(We also had to wait about eight months between "Fear and Loathing" and Electra Heart, but let's not talk about that.)

I would be surprised if she does "bangers" for this album. I think she'll go closer to the Family Jewels style of banger (Oh No, Hollywood).

Watch her build on the Electra Heart song.

David Kosten has worked on all three of Bat for Lashes' AMAZING albums. My body isn't ready yet!!

  12. Re: Marina and the Diamonds - Third Album & Singles

    Whoa. This is beyond exciting!

  13. Re: Marina and the Diamonds - Third Album & Singles

    Is Indie Marina returning then?

  14. Re: Marina and the Diamonds - Third Album & Singles

Sounds like classic Marina; fucking brilliant. I cannot wait for her new material to be released.

  15. Re: Marina and the Diamonds - Third Album & Singles

I'd take another ballad as beautiful as Obsessions any time.

  16. Re: Marina and the Diamonds - Third Album & Singles

David Kosten's work with Bat for Lashes is just sublime. And very varied - from glossy, upbeat synthpop to traditional chamber music. I wouldn't mind it if he turned out to be the sole producer for Marina's next album. They seem like a perfect fit.

It definitely sounds like the type of song that will build and build before the chorus. Like Titanium or Burn.

  18. Re: Marina and the Diamonds - Third Album & Singles

    David Kosten, yessssssssss.

All you Electra Heart stans better get used to the idea of Marina going a little less POP.

  19. Re: Marina and the Diamonds - Third Album & Singles

    Yes!

  20. Re: Marina and the Diamonds - Third Album & Singles

Well both Marina albums are brilliant because of the strength of her songwriting and melodies, so whatever sonic path she takes on album three I have faith that it'll be pretty great.
