I'm glad that Marina's The Family Jewels clicked with me before she put out Electra Heart. It seems like she's going back to her roots and I can't wait for it.

Useless info: I 'celeb spotted' Marina on a Bakerloo line train a couple of weekends ago. She was being quite loud in a fairly empty carriage and was wearing a lovely shiny blue skirt. I didn't say 'Hi' as I don't really know how to approach pop stars on their days off.

Both the albums have their massive shortcomings, mostly because Marina has a taste for schmaltz and an inability to fully commit to a concept, but I'd have to say album number two is slightly superior.
Looking forwad to this guy though.

Electra Heart, all the way. But I wouldn't mind a slower album as long it doesn't approach the cheese levels of The Family Jewels.

The second album is more fully realized, and The Family Jewels sounds like a bunch of demos by comparison, but those demos, and the Family Jewels era Marina, are far more interesting than anything from the Electra Heart era. How could anyone not like an album that's like a modern day version of Alice In Wonderland? Family Jewels all the way.
