Maybe it is time to swallow his pride and pack up his credibility and beg Simon Cowell for an X-factor slot this weekend. This single will not even go Top 100 on itunes otherwise.

Only the big guns get to appear on the X Factor final..........Coldplay announced so far (although didn`t they say recently that they would NEVER appear). Suspect Buble will also be wheeled out.

The big guns are you sure I am sure Westlife and Boyzone will be dragged out. If JLS and One Direction will be on Matt should get a slot.

I suspect JLS and Wand Erection will only be on Xtra Factor...........the final is normally reserved for mega-stars and by no stretch of the imagination are they classed as such. .

This isn't even in the top 200! Shame.

I didn't think he'd trap himself inside The Flop Matrix this soon into his career.

Is there any male winners from X-Factor who have enjoyed lasting success? Only Will Young from Pop Idol seems to have endured. Why do certain male artists fall at the first hurdle while others seem to thrive and gain real longevity? And what the heck happened to Leon Jackson? I don't even remember him scoring a bad chart position before he was dropped.

Shayne Ward has kind of. He just needs to get rid of Syco.

Basically his success has just mirrored Joe McElderry's from last year. If Marcus wins this year, the exact same thing will happen.

Quite simply because they lack originality.

I love this song. If he sung this a year ago on X Factor *, it would've been a hit.

* = yes, I know they don't get to perform original songs but they should. The whole X Factor process is so distressing. Poor Matt. I hope he breaks out of the mould.

Not really, a month ago his sales were at 125,512 copies and the album is still top 40 this week. He's doing better than Joe first did at the moment.

It does seem a half-hearted and badly organised promotion by his label which might ultimately have started the beginning of the end for Matt. If the intention was simply to boost album sales then it seems to have backfired as it is still languishing in the lower regions of the top 40. I think Matt and his team need to go back to the drawing board and decide what direction he needs to go in..................he needs some originality, not just a Coldplay/Snow Patrol tribute singer.............until that happens I doubt his career is going anywhere.

I saw him performing this on Daybreak the other morning. Soooooooo much better than that dross he sang on X Factor that was the lead single. Shame the label assumed having Gary Barlow's name stapled to it would guarentee it's success at the expense of this leading the album...

I think 'languishing at the lower end of the top 40' at this time of year isn't that bad a place to be (ask The Saturdays) especially after 2 months in the charts. It'll probably sell a decent amount over christmas. Had the record company made an effort with the single it would be charting higher.

This has done 161k according to Haven. Not bad, will probably clear 200k.

If they were really bothered about him they would have had him back on singing Starlight to give him a boost. He must be smarting at Rebecca's opening sales. Where are all the people that voted?

Singles wise yeah but his album is doing much better. Not that I think he has much potential for a future career anyway but he's not that bad just yet.

He looks really good on the single cover. Is it wrong that I have been considering buying the album just because he looks good on it? I doubt I'd enjoy the actual music but I like the artwork theme too.

he / him
His chin looks like it has been warped and is about to burst out of the cover.

I've not heard any of Matt's music, apart from the debut single, but I really loved this when I heard it on Radio 2 the other day. Shame it won't do anything for him.
