She has 18 million followers, a famous husband, a cute baby, she's very American girl next door. Talk show host would fit her perfectly. As it has Kelly and Drew.

Even as a fan I kinda agree with this. Takin’ It Back peaked at 16 in the US and 67 in the UK… Made You Look was a hit but that was really it.

Mother, a song created with the purpose of replicating Made You Look’s success didn’t really achieve anything and now we’re onto this new album without any of the singles bothering the charts.

I do think they have tried to build momentum for the album era, there’s multiple variants, signings and more signed copies so I’m curious how this will do but my expectations are low.

The standard is bad… Like really really bad. Normally I can take a few Meghan bops but there’s just nothing to latch on to here. TikTok gave her a cute hit and she went all in on her tired doo wop sound.

I took 3 songs - I Get It, Doin' It All For You and Forget How to Love - but I couldn't stomach the rest. New cover looks nice though, better than the original at least.

It's interesting that she's very aware that she only seems to get hits and a lasting career out of the doo wop, All About That Bass-retreads, but SURELY she could get a hit with a solid "normal" pop song? I feel like when she does veer aware from that, she relies on gimmicks. Just give us a bop, girl. You know you can write them.

I don’t even think she gets “hits” - I think there was probably a label struggle pre Treat Myself album about the singles not working - but they seem content with her place in the industry now. Her albums can’t cost a lot to make as she’s the main songwriter, works with a small team, cheap producers - and she’s got a strong, if not huge fanbase. It works for her and the label and if they get a hit, that’s great, but if not it allows her to keep releasing albums. There doesn’t really seem to be diminishing returns between the last few albums, she’s just doing what she does well, and her fans lap it up!
