So am I boo, and I'm feelin' the exact same.

Nothing Obama related made you reflect on the historical significance of that?

Oooh! Or how about Britney shaving her head? THAT was an emotional rollercoaster of a day!

I wonder where he'll be buried.

That sentence just made my heart skip a beat. He's going to be buried. Still sounds so weird.

Whereve it is there's bound to be a pretty epic monument made for him now as well.

We'll have our new Graceland.

I've kind of committed myself to listening to nothing but Michael for at least the rest of the week. It's my small way of paying respects to a legend.

I do hope every single one of his albums is bought in the millions over the coming weeks, I hate to point this out, but he was not exactly in the most comfortable financial position. I would hate to see his children be saddled with his enormous debt and lawsuits.

Yeah I was wondering what the hell would happen to his debts and stuff now...

Don't debts generally die with you?
Yes and no... I think.

I believe that when you die any money you leave has to go towards paying the debts before going to benificiaries but the debt doesn't get passed on. The estate owes the money not the heirs and if there's not enough money in the estate to pay the debt back then the creditors just have to make do with what is there.

His family won't suffer the debt they just might not benifit from his legacy.

Re: Michael Jackson dies aged 50

Is it bad of me to want a big Live Aid like tribute concert with all his peers and family performing?

I kind of feel sick about the comments I made a month or so ago. I feel like I've jinxed it...

Re: Michael Jackson dies aged 50

It's a bit sad that the first thoughts that entered my head when I first heard the news were random Jacko rumours, like him wanting to buy the remains of the elephant man and that the dentist father of Jordie Chandler co-wrote Men In Tights. More distant is the music, which at times is so tacky and sentimental that I can't believe that it was written by a grownup person. But anyway, Give In To Me is class. Everybody go download that one legally!

Re: Michael Jackson dies aged 50

No tafkap. They need to have something massive to honour him. A big fuckoff concert with artists covering his songs would be amazing. Sort of like Queen did when Freddie died!

Re: Michael Jackson dies aged 50

Including the three Jackson 5 songs, Michael's got 36 songs of the iTunes Top 100 here in the States. Not to mention all the albums.

I would love that. I wouldn't be too surprised if it actually happened.

Yeah, I feel bad about that conversation too. But people have said much worse and are still saying much worse even after he's gone. What we said was really quite tame.

Re: Michael Jackson dies aged 50

I was never a fan of Michael Jackson or his music, but his death was so unexpected, shocking, and sad.

For some reason I thought you were Canadian, Miss. Good to know the truth.

But absolutely. The impact feels similar to 9/11, even if it's completely different, and much less serious in itself. It also feels similar to when Elvis died, in that it was felt globally, but you knew that the impact was much stronger in America than elsewhere.

(Anyone? "Where were you when you learned that Elvis had died?" I was at a shop close to our cottage, and immediately thought, "Now many people will be sad...". I liked him a lot, but he wasn't a real concern for me.)

I love that one. Edgy Rock Michael was the best.

I love Rock Michael, I've never been able to get over what a masterstroke of genius it was to get Eddie Freakin' Van Halen on a pop song.

Re: Michael Jackson dies aged 50

I haven't been this shocked over a world event since 9/11, even if the two events are not really comparable.

Re: Michael Jackson dies aged 50

Enough time has passed for the shock and sadness to make way for thoughts about appropriate ways to spend my Michael Jackson ticket refund, which I am now referring to simply as 'the inheritance'.

I'm not sure a tribute concert would be that amazing, unfortunately. He was his music, I'm not sure if I'd really want a dozen impostors strutting around pretending.

It would be good if they just got the crowd to sing his biggest hits.

With a gospel choir. That I could go for.
