I feel like the Vogue interview more or less confirms that the era is playing out exactly as she meant it to re: promo, and that Flowers becoming one of the biggest hits of the decade at this point was purely accidental.

Which reminded me of when people were claiming that Flowers smashing was the result of some grand master plan she had been working on for the past 3 years or whatever it was fff

Who was actually saying this? I just remember posts misinterpreting what people were saying about her career. My post from earlier in this thread celebrated Flowers' success because of the road she's had and the artistic choices she's made. I recounted that she's always done what she's wanted to do, and that this time she committed her sound and image to something generally palatable and that everything she'd done before made the moment click into place - not that she planned it that way. But that's just me, if others were saying different I can't comment.

There was definitely a plan in place to build hype for Flowers at the top of the year, and coincide with her new years special. Her face was everywhere, and that built anticipation. If Flowers dropped in November it wouldn’t have done this well.

That’s pretty typical of any album campaign though, the stars just actually aligned for her.

Now, riddle me this... how can a song (Angels Like You) hover around the top 20 on Spotty for ages and not dent the Hot 100? It's so bizarre to me that radio still impacts the charts enough that Jaded is being propped up by toothpicks while Angels Like You has a bigger audience. Like, what is the threshold of streams necessary for charting?

Angles Like You isn't blowing up in the US, I believe the trend is coming from Asia.

You're not wrong about radio having a ridiculous impact in the US, but @RMK is right – Angels like you isn't even in the top 200 on Spotify in the US. The massive numbers are all international. Similarly, Jaded isn't in the top 200 on Spotify in the US, but it's up to #65 on radio, which is why it's now reentered The Hot 100 and will likely climb next week even more.

I can’t believe it’s been four years since She Is Coming, Cattitude aside I really think it would have been her best album…

And that photoshoot was iconic, it’s such a shame it didn’t get its moment.

A lot of the 2019 recordings ended up on Plastic Hearts though, did they not?

I know Gimme What I Want and Bad Karma were definitely recorded for the She Is Coming Era.
