The way those numbers would have been good enough for #1 basically any time in February - they should have just dropped the album earlier if they weren’t going to push any pre-release singles besides Flowers or do any promo.

Glad to see the latter three album tracks chart, but that is an abysmal debut for River. I adore it, but they should probably move on and start pushing Jaded ASAP.
They destroyed the album campaign. What an abysmal choice for a followup after the unexpected smash of Flowers.
“Flowers” was always going to cannibalize anything that came after it. Either “River” will take off in April when people are finally sick of “Flowers,” or it won’t and they’ll course correct by choosing something else, like a brand new song from the rumored deluxe, a remix, or “Jaded.” Think about campaigns like Future Nostalgia and Bangerz.

The way this era’s gone when Flowers starts to cool off they’ll release a ‘remix’ with a high profile feature rather than moving on.

It was literally the most successful / longest female pop campaign in a decade. In a pandemic.
This campaign really isn't the disaster people are trying to paint it, but Future Nostalgia was in a league of it's own.
I imagine Jaded is doing well because it plays right after Flowers? But River is still doing much better internationally. I don't think they should give up on River just yet. It's only been two weeks.
I'm just catching up with this now, and what kind of hypnagogic, nocturnal madness is "Handstand"? It's the standout for me.
