So, is it our plastic-pop bubblegum overlords Aqua?

…or high school musical tweeners meets electro pop temptress energy in a grisly (but amazing) Same Difference transformation?

…or is it the Steps-ditching pop divas H & Claire with their ‘golden sun-kissed’ filters set to max blast?

2003 and the post-Xtina ‘Dirrty’ legacy in pop music culture - DISCUSS.

Well, that’s what ‘Jumpin’’ sounds like to these ears - a high-octane homage to Aguilera’s slutty, sweaty club-banger or, as cynical me expects, more likely an out and out deliberate attempt by Liberty X’s production team to well and truly ride that zeitgeist dry! Kelly, Michelle, Jessica, Kevin, and Tony had certainly exuded sexy, authoritative authenticity in the recent past on ‘Just A Little’, ‘Got To Have Your Love’, and ‘Being Nobody’ with great commercial success, and they ramped it up one step further on ‘Jumpin’, the second single to be released from their sophomore album ‘Being Somebody’. It’s a raucous, balls to the wall banger that dares you not to dance, writhe, and generally just immerse yourself in filth *stares into the middle distance and weeps for youth, whilst stroking something rubber* However, it didn’t quite reach expectations commercially and ‘Jumpin’’, though a fan favourite, saw Liberty X gradually start losing the chart momentum they’d built over the past 2 years. With one or two exceptions, it was a slippery slope for the fivesome from this point on.

Considering the style of track, it’s perhaps a surprise to see minor chart singer-songwriter Lucie Silvas credited as co-writer (she was churning out this kinda material at the time):

Anyway, maybe I’m slightly lukewarm about this eliminated song but I do actually adore the CD artwork for ‘Jumpin’’ and I hope you do too:

FRAME THEM.

Voters say:

@Ezz 9.5
I had totally forgotten about this song but their TOTP performance drew me right back in.

@berserkboi 9
A bop but one I barely return to in their canon!

@DJHazey 7.5
On the subject of capable cover versions, imagine what kind of explosion we’d get if this was also one of them. (Hint: just add another “jumpin” to the title)

@Hudweiser 6.5
They're *all* so sexy.

@Doodvid 5
I prefer my Liberty X to lead, not follow.

I remember reading the @berserkboi advice for newbie rate host virgins once and rolling my eyes for maximum dramatic effect when he mentioned something like 45 minutes per post for Popjustice forum formatting.

Well. Yes. Erm.

My current feelings manifest as Deuce’s Kelly and Lisa, whilst Brian from East 17 represents FORMATTING ON PJ.

I remember being obsessed with the Thinking It Over album and then Jumpin' was just there..
I think I enjoy it more now for nostalgia and because there isn't much music like it anymore but it definitely wasn't their finest moment
