This next song was such a surprise to me, both in terms of the band and the genre...
Justice for mid-tempo bops and head flicks of choppy layered bobs!
We could sink to the bottom
We could climb to the top
Cause together We'll never give up
(I guess two of these were true...)

Notable achievements:
Their second and final number 1 hit, achieving silver certification. The final song in the rate without an 11 score!
It's really pleasing to see a superior second single outlast its juggernaut predecessor, with 'The Way To Your Love' being a massive 37 places above 'Pure and Simple', and 32 places above 'Everybody' which I'd argue fits more closely with much of the output of this rate as a straightforward pop bop! Maybe the success in the rate is down to the track's (studio) vocals, which sound more genuine and coherent with some gorgeous layers and harmonies. My favourite moment within the track is the quote above, where Suzanne is joined by Kym. Production by Stargate and a light remix of the
album version add to the catchiness of the chorus. The video also ones in on the theme of unity, in the face of media speculation about rifts in the band, there's very much a focus on the group as friends larking around. It's a real nostalgia trip to millennial fashions, with choppy hairstyles and liberal amounts of denim.
After the unparalleled success of their debut, the second single was always going to struggle. Maybe the summer release in June 2001 didn't help, as this song screams 'Christmas' to me! Although the group hit #1, 75,000 sales were eclipsed by the sales of 'Pure and Simple' and the 'Popstars' album. This sent the group's management into a tailspin, with the 'Popstars' campaign being prematurely terminated. This was the first in a series of misfires and increasingly diminishing returns for the band as we've seen in previous posts. This makes this #4 position in the rate all the more poignant and satisfying, as we can celebrate the beauty of this cute mid-tempo 20 years later.

@Hudweiser 10
A much better effort but I heard it sold very little for a number one. And Myleene got ignored again???
@unnameable 10
My favourite song by this band
@Doodvid 10
The best song they recorded bar none. Noel’s honkingly awful ad-libs on the live versions still make me laugh though.
@DJHazey 9.8
A glorious Backstreet Boys bop with female vocals mixed in, what a wonderful concept!
@Ezz 9.5
Definitely a song that works better in the studio than live (especially when Kym sabotages it ddd) but I utterly adore it!
@berserkboi 9.5
Celine’s That’s The Way It Is got ripped off xxx
@iheartpoptarts 9
Better than the Celine song.
@saviodxl 8.8
The harmonies tho!
An anatomy of a band on the ropes: Kym exposing Mylene's lack of ability, whilst being quite out of tune herself, Noel's honking in the final minute that
@Doodvid loves so much...
A more Swedish-pop sound for their B-side:
thank you
@Doodvid for sharing this, from a Hollyoaks Compilation album in 2001! Ah, the days of rushing back to watch the JP and Craig storyline in the late 00s...
And the obligatory, but omnipotent, Almighty Mix!
Old Popjustice has quite a few opinions:
A fabulous bit of alternative history, can anyone corroborate this?
