Monkeypox

I finally got an invitation to be vaccinated against Monkeypox. Hurray! Seems like each health region has their own reasonings for who gets vaccinated or not, but happy to get one soon.

I was reading this earlier and I honestly don't know how to feel. On one hand, it's potentially good news that it likely won't spread as much as we feared among kids when they go back to school. On the other hand, it allows the media to run with the 'gay disease' narrative which = less attention (and funding) paid to vaccinations, education, prevention, treatment, etc.

I got my first jab of the Monkeypox vaccine today. I don't know if it's in my mind but I'm feeling very drained, energy wise, a few hours later. I feel very relieved to have gotten it; My second dose is scheduled in 4 weeks. I appreciate the people working in public health departments making this outreach possible. The ladies working there were so incredibly helpful and encouraging.

I had mine 10 days ago, and I've had arm pain and been exhausted ever since, but no regrets. I've never had a jab reaction like it in terms of the pain in my arm, I wonder if it's to do with where they go in with the needle, or if i just got someone a little stabby! Still, I thank them for their service.

Just an FYI, the marks have all completely cleared up. When I tell people that I've had it they can't believe it and expect something akin to The Elephant Man.

Glad you're recovering well. I think most people just don't know what to think because there's so little actual reporting happening about what the symptoms/progression look like, and the few cases I do see popping up in the media tend to be the most extreme cases.

Does anyone know if there’s a particular large scale study examining the vaccine’s real world efficacy that we should all be waiting for to conclude? I have no idea how long these things take, but some reassurance sooner rather than later would be great nn
