Yeah. As a current subscriber to Netflix, Amazon, Disney, Now TV & Curzon Film, and the creators still aren't being paid and we're just lining the pockets of the billionaires at the top and shows are being removed left right and centre ... let's just say I'm tempted to go 2008 with the way I source my films. The entire system needs a complete overhaul. It's simply not working in its current state.
In my quest to watch every movie Peter Hyams ever directed, I saw Stay Tuned last night and I laughed way too hard at some of the TV-spots in the movie. I'm embarrassed to say that the "Diff'rent Strokes" one floored me.
I am ashamed to say that I've never watched Blade Runner from start to finish (always fell asleep) until yesterday... what a great movie, beautifully shot and great effects. Currently free on Prime (UK).
The Towering Inferno is an insanely good disaster movie, but my favorite from that era will always be The Poseidon Adventure. With a title like that, it sounds like it's going to be all fun and games. It's not... I've seen it several times and it always manages to break my heart a million times each viewing.
Poor Robert Vaughn in The Towering Inferno as well...
The good guys honestly just die horrendously, I mean coming from a rewatch of Aiport a couple of weeks back (where about one person dies), this film is a Massacre.
Its a great film though, a classic. McQueen, Newman, Duncan, Holden, Astaire and Jones. What a cast.
They used used show it on ITV uncut on a bank holiday daytime, and now I completely remember why I've always avoided scenic elevators, pure Kindertrauma.
I need to do a rewatch of The Poseidon Adventure and Earthquake (huge soft-spot for that mess) next.
