Music Unavailable on Digital (and Getting It There!)

Hi @aquaplex! Is there a way to see what's been submitted or check the status of something we submitted? I honestly cannot remember if I submitted a specific request around a Tori Amos EP.

Also think this thread might benefit from a first page/post explainer of where to submit. Thank you!

Sorry to break it to you but I just get too many requests to take them all forward. It’s been in the region of 30-50 every week for the past four years now and given I’m averaging two releases a week….

Those that I get lots of requests for (this showing a real demand) I do take forward, or those that I have a real interest in.

Thank you! I am really interested in doing what I can to get Scarlet’s Hidden Treasures by Tori Amos available to stream. I know I could find a considerable number of folks to submit the request, and I’m also willing to help in any way possible. Let me know if there’s a threshold.

Can't you just rip an MP3 from your Now 58 though? Isn't it quite easy to incorporate local files into your streaming libraries?

Not having a go, just continue to be baffled as to why people often speak as if there isn't an alternative option to waiting for something to come online.

Genuinely interested to know what am I missing here, being a non-streamer?

No that’s a fair point, I know you aren’t having an go. I do have an active Apple Music sub, so I have been able to upload it to the cloud. But even with that, there are still limitations when tracks are not natively streaming . It’s little things like being unable to cast a song to an Echo speaker, unless it’s in the streaming catalogue. When I had Spotify, I couldn’t add a local file to an existing playlist (that may have changed since).

Cool. I'm interested to hear about these little quirks that make it annoying, if there are any others. When I did try out Apple Music I found it quite easy to blend with my existing iTunes library.

I do believe Spotify allows you to put local files in playlists now, but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes, it allows you to put MP3s in your playlists that only you can hear but for those of us with popular public playlists it's nice for them to be on streaming properly so we get to share obscure pop music with people who may never have heard these songs before. I love the thought of casual listeners, people in other countries and younger people discovering "Falling" by "Boom!" (recently added to Spotify) or my favourite b-sides because I added them to my most popular playlist!

That's a fair point too. That's probably not the case for most people though.
