NAMIE AMURO Discography Rate 「Part Three」【WINNER】

This one seemed to slip under the radar, but I think most of us would agree that this is an acceptable place for it to leave... hopefully.

In Two: 8.52
10
(@Jawshxx, @Pinky25, @Kneehigh Girl, @lovlands), 9.5 (@BEST FICTION, @Cutlery)
5 (@lalaclairi_), 6 (@Ana Raquel)

In Two was released as one of the new tracks on Namie's compilation album, Finally, released November 8th, 2017. It was written by Ryo Ito & Kenichi Anraku, both of whom also worked on Hope. It was written & produced by Adam Kapit who also produced Hands on Me for Namie, as well as writing Lucifer for Shinee. It was used in by Kose in the NAMIE AMURO × KOSE ALL TIME BEST Project, which featured shots from all of Namie's promotions with the brand.

Cutlery is feeling it, "Amongst the finest output from EDMie! The chorus and intro are both fire and the queen doesn't go over the top vocally, sounding epic alongside the hard-hitting beats and synths. Her confidence and smooth control all over the track pours out and makes me a happy fan." Pinky25 might've missed some of the Japanese, "Is my favorite Namie (full) English song and I just heard it a few months ago!" Evilsin can't get past the lyrics, "Cue everybody saying that she broke our hearts in two by going in retirement. Musically this is almost divine, like some kind of noisy EDM haven, although I have a couple of issues with this. My main gripe with this is the lyrics and the lack of rhyming in the chorus, which somehow managed to be very prominent for me here. Still, this bops like there is no tomorrow and she looked snatched in the PV, so have a solid 9."

Vague knows the tea, "i can't unhear 'break my hole in two'!??!?? i KNOW that's not the lyric, but ... whew, this gay-pandering icon." Kneehigh Girl is satisfied, "Where did this come from? After the first few seconds, I just knew this would be my favorite out of the new songs. Catchy, fairly easy to sing along and dance to and contains enough electropop to satisfy my needs." lovlands appreciates Namie's commitment, "Seriously so fierce and I can't thank Namie enough for bringing back electropop with this right before she backed away into her retirement cave. A Kylie moment perhaps!"

Otenkiame finds it questionable, "A heavy EDM track that really feels like a "FEEL" leftover. I also have no idea why the English is so questionable when there are credits for an English speaker, but I'll let it slide. I do think the chorus could use a little work, so I mostly live for the instrumental bits and the fast-talking section before the chorus. It's good for bopping to at least." Miyawakiwi also feels something is amiss, "i like it but i’m 60% sure this is one demo that didn’t make it into _genic or Feel." lalaclairi_ isn't here for this, "Not a fan of the production. Too much going on." send photo also isn't huge on it, "I love the production on this until it hits the chorus, so frustrating."

Another 11 is about to fall before the Top 20.... @Osiris might be happy with this one...

Poison: 8.54

(@Gintoki), 10 (@send photo, @evilsin, @Weslicious)
6 (@Pinky25), 7 (@Mikl C, @_hazzie_, @mi|kshake)

Poison was released on Namie's 11th album FEEL on July 10th, 2013. It was produced by Adam Kapit, who also produced Hope & In Two, which was just eliminated. It was written by American Idol Season 6 Top 24 contestant Nicole Tranquillo, who apparently only writes for J-Pop group, Fairies.

Namie is inspiring the stripper in send photo, "Jesus fuck this oozes grimy sexuality. Either this or Do Me More would be my debut stripper song." Otenkiame feels the Namie signature in this song, "If I had to choose a song on "FEEL" that most sounds in Namie's signature style, I'd probably pick this one. It's so dark and sinister sounding as Namie craves some D. She flat out states she doesn't care who you are. Phew, and the pre-chorus "rap" section is FIYAH! "Head to toe subete right / konomama moving don't stop". Props to Namie for showing that she's the one in charge." Miyawakiwi hears the throwback too, "Play Namie makes a surprise appearance!"

Evilsin also notes the presence of old Namie, "Oh wow, a former Top24 American Idol Season 6 alumnus provided us with this amazing piece? Whew, the fate's strings are ever unfathomable. This is probably the most Namie sounding track on the whole album, so much so that it could have easily been on "WHEN POP HITS THE FAN" or "Queen Of Hip-Pop". You love a hook? We got 3. You love a sinister vibe? We got it. You love an icy cold queen of frost on delivery? We got her!" Cutlery is feeling the powerful vibes, "Way grittier than the average FEEL song, Namie still sounds pretty playful and inviting, yet she commands and is ready to stomp on some necks with her kneehigh leather boots." And vague likes it all... except the chorus, "chorus holds this back from getting a perfect score from me, but i love everything else about this."

Fight Together: 8.55
10
(@BEST FICTION, @Miyawakiwi, @RUNAWAY, @Cutlery, @_hazzie_, @Mikl C)
6 (@Kneehigh Girl, @Coming Century), 6.5 (@Gintoki)

Fight Together was released as the 2nd single from Namie's 10th album Uncontrolled on July 27th, 2011. It was released as a triple A-side with NAKED & Tempest. It was written & produced by Nao'ymt and used as the intro song for the 14th season of the anime One Piece. The song was released as a ringtone on June 1st and later as a digital download on July 13th. It was re-recorded for the Finally album.

It charted at #1 on the RIAJ Digital Track Chart, peaking higher than NAKED & Tempest at #11 & #76 respectively. It peaked at #16 on the Japan Hot 100. The triple A-side single debut at #2 on the Oricon Weekly Charts selling 60,254 copies in it's first week. It was certified Gold for sales over 100,000 and sold 101,397 copies in it's 18 week run, making it the 74th best selling single of 2011.

It's Miyawakiwi's pick, "My favorite (suki dake ja nai~) one piece opening ever, her vocals were really good." Otenkiame better repent, "I hated this track because of how anime-ish it was, but man have I seen the light! I absolutely adore what it offers! It's actually cuter than it lets on, but Namie totally makes it work. I dunno, I just adore the way the verses flow into that odd brassy bit and then into the sort of laid back hooks. God, do I love those hooks. "Wasurenai de, WE FIGHT TOGETHER"!" It didn't work out that way for Kneehigh Girl, "Another song I never really saw the appeal of. The chorus is memorable and catchy, but I honestly can’t remember much else about the song, even after just listening to it." At least vague agrees about one part, "euphoric chorus." Send photo stans, "….ddd i fucking stan this don’t @ me." Where's your 10 tho?

RUNAWAY with the scolding hot tea, "this song is PERFECTION. It was absolutely robbed of having a music video when EVERY OTHER SONG got one."_hazzie_ would agree, "one of her best all time songs, very joyful." Evilsin was also convinced, "This is perfect for "One Piece"! Nao'ymt once again cast his spell and created something truly magical. When this was just released I wasn't that fond of the parts where it changed drastically, but in time I learned to like those. The version on "Finally" somehow sounds even more robust, which made me amp up my score for the song." Cutlery feels the song, "I don’t know much about One Piece but I do know the uplifting vibes, spirit of adventure and feelings of not letting go of a person important to you oozing from the track, all make it a perfect match for an anime opening! That synth line/beat running through the track is dance-like and super evocative at the same time, superb!"

Fight Together is cute but I won't miss it. I think I gave it a 9.

However, NAKED and Stranger better make the top 20! La La La and Ballerina need to go first.

Please, Retired Queen Amuro, protect Uncontrolled & _genic from the evil forces!

Based on my rating, I prefer Stranger to Naked, so in that sense Naked should go first. I'd like Naked more if it hadn't been the only song EVER that stress me out. I don't know why that is, but I feel an anxiety attack coming on whenever I listen to it.

La La La needs to go first.

La La La: 8.56

(@BEST FICTION, @Coming Century, @lovlands, @otenkiame, @Kneehigh Girl, @vague, @Gintoki)
6 (@lalaclairi_, @Mikl C), 6.5 (@Cutlery)

La La La was included as an English track on Namie's 11th album FEEL, released July 10th, 2013. It was written by Ana Diaz who has written songs for Britney Spears, Zara Larsson & Loreen. La La La was produced by David Dawood who went on to work with Cheryl on Yellow Love. It was used as a commercial song for KOSE's ESPRIQUE Baby Skin campaign.

lovland fires shots at the low voters, "The vibeeeee this song has is so pleasant and breezy, I cannot imagine how soulless you have to be even to just feel 'meh' towards this song..." Otenkiame felt the impact of the song, "Despite being so laid-back, I can testify that this song got the crowd going wild live. Those "lalala" parts are, not surprisingly, the best of the chorus, especially since they have the clapping percussion parts with them. I don't even know how to explain my enthusiasm for "La La La" - everything just comes together so nicely." Vague is singing along, "one of ha catchiest songs ever tbh."

Kneehigh Girl is forgiving, "There’s just something soothing, comfortable and uplifting with this song. I’ve listened to this enough times to not be bothered by the occasional mispronunciations. Besides, the production is so high overall, it’d be a shame to give this less than 10 for one “lecon”." Evilsin is also feeling generous, "Why is Namie singing this so gently? The lyrical content is pretty standard and even a bit cringey ("dopest", anyone?), but that pre-chorus is pretty great in that regard. What really gets me though is the melody in the chorus, especially starting with "Hello~", so catchy. Reminds me of that one line in Nadine's "Put Your Hands Up"." And Pinky25 rates it highly, "This is one of the first songs I heard from Feel and coincidentally it’s one of the few I really like on it."
