Natalie Imbruglia - Firebird

It was the best choice to perform last night. It's the latest single, is on the radio and has a video. Plus it sounds like the music she is best remembered for.
It's not like someone like George Ezra the other week who still has a chance to chart a single and is a bigger name with more to gain from this kind of promo. Natalie is very much in the legacy act box now. The best she can aim for is selling some tickets and getting some more sales for the album, which this would have done.

I agree it’s a good choice because it reminds people of the Left of Middle sound which made people interested in her in the first place.

Agree I thought she was fine and twitter was very harsh on her.
Was just the wrong choice of song (and I think wrong choice as a single, personally), should’ve been either Build It Better or one of the amazing ballads just sat there on the album to showcase her voice better.

Twitter is harsh on everyone. The main thing is it impressed the target audience enough to download the album (which had already risen into the sales chart again this week following the masked singer). The benefits will outweigh the usual twitter nastiness.

Okay but Andrew Garfield, with stubble, in a pink suit and giving that lustful stare....King.
Nice little interview, it was interesting how honest she was about losing her confidence which you can understand considering how poorly Come To Life and Male went for her.
Dawn French looks fab with that hair too.

I agree it’s not the right single but it’s great to see her on tv. I still think Not Sorry is the catchiest song on the album.

If she'd have performed Build It Better, there would have been just as many people moaning that she was performing a 6-month old song etc. At the end of the day, any promo is good promo and she looked/sounded great. Whatever she performed, it was never going to sky-rocket her to #1 anyway.

I highly doubt there will be any further single releases now but I wouldn't mind What It Feels Like getting a push as it has one of the best choruses and would feel like a nice way to end the era.

A Firebird rerelease would be nice. She’s with BMG right? They have done good jobs with some of their re issues.
One or two new tracks and some covers from the Masked Singer is all we need.

I love her and most of the album, but Nothing Missing is such a non-event of a song. The general public probably didn't know she had an album out last year, so I would have chosen to perform a song with a broader appeal without considering what the current single is, like Build It Better or On My Way. When You Love Too Much, the song that ended her writer's block, would have been a great choice as well.

It’s a tough one, I think if she performed Build It Better then it would have been like resetting the era, the latest single made sense, but there are definitely better songs on the album, What It Feels Like seemed like more of an obvious single choice, but I think they went with Nothing Missing because it’s the closest sound to Left Of the Middle on the album.

Her Nothing Missing performance was fine. She's performed it much better at her gigs last year however, unsure if it was her vocal or just the way the audio was set up on Graham's show. Glad to see the Lafayette dress make a reappearance though, she rocks it!

I dare say she was pretty nervous too. It wasn't perfect but it was still good and she looked like she was having a ball.

Revisiting Male and honestly, it's a good album. I was a bit deflated when I heard it was all covers and nothing came near to how perfect Instant Crush was, but she sounds lovely on it and the songs she chose were a nice mix of well known and lesser known (at least to me). I love how the vibe of it is like she is sat on a little stage in a bar with her band around her just jamming out in old jeans and band t-shirt.

I’d be here for a Firebird re-release if it means we get some bonus tracks. Thankfully with the album containing 14 tracks I’m happy with the amount of new music we got from her, but we all know how good her b-sides are, so I’m curious what’s left from the sessions.

Didn't she say before that there were a lot of tracks leftover but that they didn't fit the vibe of the rest of the record? I'd rather she hold those back, record a few more and give us a new album later in the year than a re-release.
