Neighbours - unmissable drama

I'm so happy that Terese is confirmed. I'm pleased about all but Leo but I suppose Paul needs at least one of his offspring around. Poor Jane though. I loved that she got a happy ending with Mike but needs must. I suppose the explanation could be that they weren't compatible in the end. It's probably more realistic than picking up where you left off 30 odd years ago and living happily ever after.

Harold, Lucy and Chloe are returning in guest roles.

Leo was a bit of a spare part in his last stint, but I guess he's also more a clean slate than a lot of potential returnees.

I was hoping that the return of Jane meant they'd locked in at least one of Bryon or Nicolette - but the actor who played Byron appears to be based in London now*, and with Nicolette you've got the problem of her being tied to David/Aaron (honestly I would kill off the baby to get Nic back in the show, but I'm not sure they would do that)

*but I'm not opposed to a recast, in his case

I'm SO thrilled about the second batch of returnees that's been announced - especially Annie Jones and Dame Rebekah.

Hopefully the actor who played Byron is just over in the UK travelling? If not, a recast could work - I agree that Byron and Nicolette are essential for Jane.

April has been suggesting on social media that she could be returning more permanently down the line. This probably has something to do with them firming up plans with Jodi Gordon.

April is a star, but I'm slightly torn because it didn't really feel like they knew what to do with her towards the end, and I'm not a fan of Chelly. The energy in that share house at the end was excellent though - they just need to either get her out of Lassiter's or stop foregrounding Lassiter's and it's catastrophe-of-the-fortnight so much.

I agree, the endless 'Hotel Wars', etc. were tedious and really sucked the fun out of the character despite April being great in the role. I think Chelly also dragged both characters down - Elly was much more watchable when she was a hot mess drunk.

I'd hope to see some new playgrounds for the characters with the revival and less Lassiter's office action. It's all very exciting though, not really knowing what what way they are going to go with the show!

I think the problem with Hot Mess Elly was that that wasn't want the writers really wanted? They made her an awful person from the very start, but somehow didn't want to lean into it and had everyone around her act like she was a lovely person.

I'm in two minds about whether we'll see any big creative changes - on the one hand, they have the 'blank slate' advantage, but on the other it is the same EP and I have the slight concern that they will be very risk averse, at least at the start.

On the other hand, both the core businesses will probably be lacking in managers - even if Nicolette is back, her being the manager of Harold's always felt like a stop-gap. Chloe for the Waterhole?

Since Zara has confirmed she's not returning, I guess that points to Amy not being back, which I'm not bothered by personally

High key I think there will be a couple more returnees and it’s going to be a lot of newbies from here on out.

I agree. I think it's essential that they have a new family so that's at least four main characters to join and then they will also throw us a new manager somewhere. It's so exciting to think that in just over a month the cameras will be rolling again.

I have spent the past week working through the iconic episodes on Amazon and I am in a bit of Neighbours heaven. With this, the tour and the exciting announcements it's just a massive boost of joy.

There are reports that they have Pin Oak Court back and are renting the old Canning house again for the cast to use like trailers again. Good news for the production to not have to worry about trying to work around this and to focus on the things that matter.

Sorry Hollyoaks but as a Neighbours fan I couldn’t be more pleased

I'm not sure how I feel, because one of the weird things about Neighbours is the same team has been in charge for ages but the show has such variable quality and even tone. Shane always gives the impression of being into the very soapy/OTT stories and the obsessive nostalgia, neither of which always work for the show, but I guess it's better to have an experienced team at the head

Is that family that moved in like 5 minutes before the show was announced as cancelled going to be coming back? Poor them.

I wouldn’t mind Amy coming back if they make her less messy and attachment-heavy this time around.

I’d love for Kyle and Roxy to come back. No need for other members of the Canning clan, though. The actor that plays Levi already has another gig (with Neighbours producers attached).

Please have queen Nicolette come back without the baby and Aaron and David. Jane’s character needs her for the development and dynamic.

Bring back Glen

The actress who plays Amy's daughter Zara has confirmed she's not returning, so it doesn't look promising for Amy.

I'd also like the Rodwells, Kyle, Roxy and Nicolette back. Levi, too. (His new acting gig is a limited series).
