Netflix recommendations

Petition to merge this, Additional Streaming Recommendations and Random TV stuff into one thread dd @mods, I don't think there needs to be three similar threads?
It's true that we don't need 3 similar threads, but I also don't think I should merge them because then the conversations from all 3 will bleed into one another - I could lock 2 of them if people are okay with that?

Random TV stuff is probably the most redundant, but it wouldn’t make sense to lock Additional because of the proliferation of other streaming sites.
Maybe rename it to 'Streaming recommendations' and leave that as the open one or something?
I’ve binged Ozark the past few months and finally finished it. While I’m glad I watched and will forever stan the trinity of Wendy, Ruth, and Helen, that final episode was such a disappointment.

Did they really have to kill Ruth? Had the character not suffered enough? And what was the cheap car crash plot in which they all magically walk away unharmed and without going to the hospital? The show basically spun its wheels for season four and it kind of soured me on the show a bit. Also not buying the writers’ explanations for the deaths—I don’t think Ruth was wanting to be dead; by the end, she seemed thrilled to have a new beginning ahead, and she still had Five to think about. (I also find it strange that they went out on the press circuit after the finale to explain the gunshot ending; if you don’t want it to be ambiguous, then don’t write the ending with a fade-to-black.)

Give Laura Linney and Julia Garner all their flowers, but I hope the show’s not rewarded for writing this season.

All that said, still one of Netflix’s best and I’m sorry to see it go. I was just hoping for better execution of the finale. I don’t even mind the thematic ending for the show, just the series of “???” moments in the process of landing.
I agree about the Ozark ending,
I hated it so much dd. I wanted Wendy to pay for her evilness!

I loved the Ozark ending.

specifically, that evil little smirk of parental pride that Wendy and Marty got right as Jonah pulled the trigger

I finsished the latest season of Indian Matchmaking. It was a mess. The storytelling this season felt so choppy and no one was even that interesting to be invested in. I can't believe they went all the way to London for Seema to help just ONE person, it would have been nice for them to include a few more UK people this season.

I can't see this show lasting much longer tbh, which makes me sad but alas.

I think it makes sense to have the three threads, as they serve different purposes? One for Netflix, one for other streaming services, and Random TV Stuff is often used to discuss older shows, which sometimes aren't even on streaming.
If the majority are happy with that that's fine, but merging streaming discussions was initially discussed because Netflix doesn't always have the same shows in every region and similarly, shows that are on, for example Hulu in the US, are on a different streaming service in Europe and so on.

I don't see any harm in combining the Netflix & streaming threads as they often get mixed up anyway, but I agree that a separate thread about general TV watching is appreciated for discussion relating to older shows - or shows that aren't yet on a streaming platform.

I also think it's a bit silly to start a new thread for every show (which often only spark a handful of comments & become impossible to find) vs. starting discussion in one of these broader threads and eventually creating an individual thread if warranted... but that's a minor personal frustration that can be ignored.

But staying on topic, I only have 3 episodes of Firefly Lane left and, as stupid as the show may be - I mean, a character being killed by a freak lightning bolt? ridiculous - every single one of these final episodes has left me in tears.

Respectful, but strong disagree on this one. It's true that some shows don't have a strong enough following and the threads die off quickly, but in the streaming age we're all watching shows at a different pace, so having to hunt through one general streaming thread or Netflix threads for comments on a particular show could be an enormous pain and the discussion will be completely disjointed.

And, content wise, this particular thread seems to have largely become about pulpier, soapier and sometimes young adult oriented or reality shows, whereas more grownup and prestige shows seemed to have found their own threads. So things seemed to have largely settled where they should.

I'm bias because I am portuguese but just started is and it's actually incredible so far. Probably one of the prettiest shows I've seen, and seems fairly well written and intriguing.
