Netflix recommendations

I was in India last month for vacation and watched a movie called "Laapata Ladies" on Netflix. The premise of the movie is staggeringly original and the acting and humanity showcased in the movie is of a very high order. More importantly, the story keeps you at the edge of your feet as you try and unpeel the layers of ONE of the missing (the translation for the Hindi word "Laapata") ladies.

Netflix is raising prices yet again. In its latest earnings report released Tuesday, the streaming service announced that “we are adjusting prices today across most plans” in the US, Canada, Portugal, and Argentina.

I think Netflix knows that consumers are going to platform jump every couple of months now, rather than have several streaming services to pay subscriptions to every month, and this is their new tactic. Dump several high profile seasons in the same quarter to increase subscription levels, then the next quarter increase subscription prices & hope people don’t notice/forget they’re subscribed.

I just hit play on Laapata Ladies since I am in desperate need of the kind of warmth that I've felt from other Hindi releases. Gonna brew up some lavender chamomile, turn off the lights, and enjoy. Thanks for the rec!

I hope you like it. It is very different from anything I have watched. I am not a Hindi movie aficionado but this one really stood out.

I quite enjoyed the first episode of Kaulitz & Kaulitz. I went into it totally blind for shits and giggles and discovered that "oh, these are those Tokio Hotel people who had that really annoying song my scene friend liked!"

It's scratching my itch for that kind of "vaguely sunny, woo mildly energetic pop music montages of people driving around LA" with people who are not The Kardashians. With bonus German! Their parasocial relationship is cute, especially when Heidi Klum is involved. And Bill has the most infectious laugh I swear to God. Yes artificially trigger my empathy response and lift me out of my deep depression!

Can’t recommend Japanese limited series, Asura, enough. It’s a light-hearted series about four sisters navigating domestic situations in the 70s that deals with fidelity and identity. Directed by the man behind Shoplifters and Monster (recent highlights in Japanese cinema), it’s definitely worth a watch.

Don't know how old it is because I don't go on netflix that much but I watched Subservience and rather enjoyed it (insert joke about Megan Fox's acting style being perfect for it)

The guy they got to play the dad(dy) however
