Nicki Minaj - Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded

I really think she should give up the goose on this whole rap credibility bollocks alongside her cutesy pop image, it's becoming increasingly clear that the urban community are distancing themselves from her. If they were here for her, the Re-Up would be selling far better.

Let's just make the next album entirely pop/dance. Go for the huge chart hits.

Then, on an entirely separate franchise, release an urban mixtapey affair. Don't make the hood listen to Starships, don't make a load of little girls listen to Come on a Cone. Spend two entirely separate brackets of time and promotion on two different markets. Mixing the two has been not at all successful.

Noooo. I'm sorry, but she's objectively terrible at them. Worst popstar of the lot.

Turn to rap however, and she's up there with the best. It's an easy decision to see where she should go.

It's so sad that a couple of years ago people were debating whether she was the second coming of Lauryn Hill, and now we're discussing whether she should abandon rap altogether.

This is interesting. Do you think the community see her as a sell-out or some sort of embarrassment?

A bit of both, really. Seeing what the figureheads of urban radio say about her, a lot seem to think she's a diva without the substance or acclaim to back up why she should be so. They dislike her for thinking she's way above her station. Scanning forums and seeing what fans say about her, there's a lot of antipathy to everything she does musically. She's created a two-headed hydra- pop fans that will dislike the urban, urban fans that will dislike the pop.

That's why I suggested going for two different things at two totally separate moments- split the beast into two.

I can't see how it's a debate. She's a truly terrible popstar and an often brilliant rapper. Why would anyone want her to continue doing generic pop crap that even Christina Aguilera would reject?

Poor Christina - has she become the example of scraping the bottom of the barrel?

(And let me just say that Lotus isn't that bad before BEST FICTION rushes in to kill me.)

I would understand her continuing to persue pop if she had any talent for writing or performing but she can't dance, can't sing the choruses and th songs are so generic that RedOne could give them to Kat Deluna and no one would be any the wiser. Hell, I could even understand it if these songs were selling well but outside of Starships, none of this popstar posturing has set the charts alight and the album has struggled even with a big worldwide hit to its name.

However, the female rapper with multiple personalities, a big ass and crazy wigs is something she does well and has proven to be saleable in the past, so why not stick to what she's good at? That said, however lacklustre her pop career may be, it has brought her the endorsement deals she's currently enjoying. No one wants to buy Pepsi or perfume from "I'm a mutha fuckin' MONSTER" girl, but that Super Bass chick seems like she could shift some merchandise. Sadly, I think that's what's more important to Nicki these days, she is "a brander" afterall.

She's a brand bitch, she's a brand.

I picture Nicki Minaj sliding into hateful obscurity like Lil' Kim over the course of the next 5-8 years.

Though, I also thought Wayne would disappear after that ridiculously bad album with guitars, and he's still on every song on the rap station down here somehow.

Radio fans can take a lot of abuse.

You expect her to be relevant for at least the next five years?

E! special, Idol hype and a trillion videos couldn't sell her latest album, how on earth is she going to flog the next one?
