No Angels - Celebration Tour + General Discussion

You better believe I ordered it shortly after I read about it on here. I’m hoping it doesn’t take too long to get here. I’m always hesitant when a band re-records old* material, and to have refreshed an entire Greatest Hits album, I was more than weary. I listened to the whole of 20 last night on Apple Music; I loved finding their complete album discography here in the US. I’ve zero complaints. It’s fun AND fresh takes on some of my favorite pop tracks of the early 2000s. These women really did that!

*I originally posted ‘new’ instead of ‘old’.

I haven't listened to the vinyl itself and I'm not super impressed by the new music/versions, but the package is such a love letter to fans. It feels very high-quality, and for their first vinyl, it feels fantastic to own. I think you'll love it!

The new arrangements don’t always capture the original magic, I’ll give you that, but I tried listening to it as if it were all new material. It’s a great addition, nonetheless and I can’t wait to see it in my hands!

When I first listened to the singles from the 20 album I was horrified, but I think they work very well as a whole and it's not as disappointing as it seemed at first.

I love that we have new versions of these tracks and it's a great way to celebrate 20 years of No Angels.

The album's packaging is beautiful. No one can deny that. ;)

I like the idea of the original mix. For me it feels like Gellers take on Kylies "Real Groove" - the instrumental sadly sounds (as all of his work) way too empty and cheap.

The new radio mix doesn´t do the original composition justice. That tired "house" beat doesn´t really connect with the rest for me.

The new songs are all a bit on the garbage side but I warmed up to the whole project as a cute reminder why I love them. Only listening to the original versions anyway though. Not a single new version tops anything from before. Not even the album tracks got a boost.

Why are we so hard on them? It's a lovely album.

I prefer them releasing these new versions than re-releasing the old ones, they tried something different and they did a great job (not topping the original versions, but I don't think that's possible).

Why wouldn't we be? What makes them different from anyone else here? The music sounds cheap. I didn't expect them to fly in Max Martin to glam up some old songs. But everybody involved expects money to come out of this with a massive tour – so they could have invested a tiny bit into the productions.

As someone said everything is there. The performances, the outfits, their excitement seems honest, even the packaging of the album is great. Just the music completely fails.

And yes I am aware that it's impossible to really top all those fantastic singles they had. But a sub par production that is completely void of any creativity or passion? Keep it.
