Normani - "Fair" + Debut Album

The album's most likely arriving February (I hope)
14 songs? That's my girl!
She's going back to record some more stuff with Max’s camp (smart)
She's definitely on the Charlie's Angels Soundtrack, so new music in the next couple of months.

Besides the Charlie’s song, do we think a proper second single will drop as well this year or should she wait till January?

I think she definitely should wait til January. Either she needs to release really soon which would cut Motivation short or whatever she puts out will be derailed by the Christmas radio freeze and radio is gonna be very important for her. Potential Rihanna and Adele releases this year will be in the way too.

What she needs to be doing is promoting. The regular tv season is back now so there’s no reason she shouldn’t be pushing Motivation on the daytime and late night talk shows. She’s a performer and Motivation was made for the stage so I think that’s really the best chance for people to pay attention to her. The song may seem naf on first listen, but it’s an ear worm and really hooks you in after multiple listens so she kind of needs to be pushing it everywhere I think. Hopefully her mentoring Kelly’s team on The Voice leads to a performance there, as well.

I'm gutted that Camila is smashing with her two sub par output and our Queen stays losing.

This is not what she deserves. The GP is not taking to her.

Neither Camila’s songs nor Motivation are smashing (yet) but regardless how about we stop needlessly comparing these two women who have virtually nothing in common outside of being in a now defunct band together like 3 years ago. Literally nothing productive comes out of these comparisons.

How about some of you heffas have a piece of bread and calm down? I wasn't NOT ROOTING for Normani.

Okay nobody’s smashing. I’ll not compare ever again. Geez Louise, the overreaction of it all.

she/her
I'm surprised it's *not* smashing though. Motivation is a very catchy little tune and with that amazing 90s-nostalgia video I really thought it would be a viral hit. Disappointing as it deserves to be.

I think the only thing that lets this release down is the song itself. Don't get me wrong, I do like it but it's not been something I come back to that much in terms of listening to the audio only. The performances and videos are what sold it to me. I still think it's done fairly well though and she's even had some viral moments like with the #motivationchallenge.

Camila's smashing or not smashing has nothing to do with Normani. They were in the same group once, but that's it.

They make very different music. Can we please stop with the boring comparisons and pitting them against each other. It's really dull.

I find myself coming back to the song all the time. I love the beat and the breezy vocal moments. Not to mention I constantly have 'oooooh I think about it' stuck in my head. I get it's probably not for everyone but I really think it's a strong pop song.
