Not That Kind of Rate: Anastacia | Finished

I'm so scared to check the results, to be honest. The temptation is killing me, though.

That's true, but in Anastacia's case, I think I'm most aligned with the popular opinions (i.e. I fully expect the entire top 5, or even top 10, to have high scores from me). Wait, I can actually check that, since I have access to the final leaderboard, but I'm still pulling my hair whether to do it.

With those averages, I think the ballads and "Evolution" tracks are the only thing you can possibly rescue.
Dddd there are a LOT of bangers with very high scores from me. Her first two albums and Heavy Rotation were just a bit too inconsistent, but the rest of them are pretty solid.

I really want to look at the final results...

Me with being back-up host for @soratami's French Divas Rate!

I can't remember if I looked right away, or waited 15 minutes to do so! Ddddd
I think I can wait and see the first 5 cuts... and then I'm pretty sure it's going to be the same case as yours.

Yeah I know. Hopefully you rescued the correct ballads.

Edit: Just saw your scores for two of my favourite Anastacia ballads...

Since there won't be any eliminations today, I can do one Sprocky-esque "Sunday Monday snack" now.

As most of you already know, Anastacia has very few unreleased songs that actually surfaced.
"Crushin'" and "Calling All Angels" are the ones that appear in this rate, but there's another one that's titled "I Dare You to Love Me". The songwriters are not known, but the song was recorded sometime between "Heavy Rotation" and "Resurrection". Since it first appeared online in 2013, I assume it was recorded in early sessions of "Resurrection".
There's only a 30-second snippet available so far:

I think it's fine, but can't really judge a song based on this. Hopefully it comes up someday.

Is there more than one song that people think might get axed first? Or are we all in agreement that it's gonna be ... that one ?
I actually have a few songs in mind. Two or three of them that are the most glaring to me are among the optional songs.

One thing I can confirm is that, when putting my ballot next to @Sprockrooster and SprockyBF's, the lowest rated song was "Baptize My Soul". But since there's 9 times the amount of voters compared to that, it's quite unlikely that it remained the last-placed song. We'll see...

Let's start with the first reveals for today. And there will be two album tracks lost today. But first a track that needed to be here for pure representation rather than adding a threat for the crown.

Yeah. I was not going to make an artwork for this thing of a track. Not entirely sure this classifies as world music, but surely does feel like it. And for that genre I need to be in the mood. Especially the heavy reliance of instrumentals and spoken parts on the album (Spirit of the Roots) is a bit of rough for an entire sit through. This however is the only track that actually has the queen of Sprock singing instead of humming or speaking and was therefore added here. But it is far from a career high or a kickstart to a career. I do feel like the sound is sometimes reflected in live performances. She definitely drew inspiration from this time in her career during funk medleys, albeit lightly. This track strengthens the versatility Anastacia has put out, but not for the best in this case. Some fans see a link between this and ‘Sick & Tired’, but I like to debunk that as the music from Omar Sosa is influenced by Caribbean music styles, whereas the hook from Sick & Tired is based on Indian/Hindi music.

@Maki calls "this is a very interesting and equally random collab. Jazzy with exotic/tropical influences is something she's never done (and probably never do). The first part is messy, but then it progresses into something very nice. "You tell me you love me..." bit near me end is my favourite." Ooh definitely. She sounds the most Anastacia there. @londonrain brings a fair point and the reason why it never escaped bottom 3 and destined for this placement: "I want to stan this, but it's a bit too chaotic (and there's not enough Anastacia) for me to truly enjoy it." Finally @livefrommelbs says it's not something for him, but brings in the iconic Kim Cattrall "This kinda reminds me of this:

Next up is our first album track of the day. A bonustrack to be exact. Our other album track loss today is not a bonustrack!

WHEW! The jump in average from more than a whole point. Poor Omar Sosa. He never stood a fighting chance. Guess he should have given Anastacia some actual time to show off her vocals there. And yes, I did not bother to make an artwork for this one either. Her name is often misspelled with an S instead of C. This movie (not from Disney) by the way, but I felt like there was a link to be made with Snowwhite probably only helped in continuing the wrong spelling. I love Disney. I actually adore Snowwhite. I stan Anastacia. Yet this cocktail of ingredients didn’t result into something magnificent. It isn’t the blame of Anastacia. She does a great job. The production however feels cheap, dated and very of it’s time. I am all here for modern classics for those Disney staple tracks. But this is not the way to go. In fact I do not like the most of these modern renditions. However this is among the best for me. Probably fuelled by the fact that it is my queen singing after all. The song is weirdly applicable for that time in her career. She is single and clearly on the look out for a prince. She would eventually date a German tv-host and marry her bodyguard. But sadly it wasn’t happy ending.

@livefrommelbs seems to be on the same page as me concerning the vocals versus production part: "I really dislike this one. Those 4 points are solely for vocals." However @Maki is on the other end: "Can't recall the last time I've heard this. It's quite odd and a bit boring, but I'm digging the production." I feel like @berserkboi embodies the thought most voters have of this track "This is alright but very disposable!" I quite like it, but it is far from her grandest songs. I am disagreeing with @londonrain however "This should have stayed on Disneymania and not come anywhere near any edition of Freak of Nature." I do hate this though. Especially when they are overlooked for greatest hits but were singles. We need everything from an artist on their own albums as well! There is always the skip button ddd!

Mi negra, tu bombón - 6,25
~ Okay, this is one of the songs I saw in the bottom 5 for sure (and I figured it out based on the scores seen on the leaderboard), but actually hoped it would escape the last place. It's not even in the bottom 10 of Anastacia's songs for me and there are definitely weaker moments. Like I've said, it's a bit too uncontrollable to the point it sounds like an improvisation, but it gets enjoyable eventually. And it's nice to see chaotic queen @Ana Raquel supporting this song. Very fitting to see her in the highest scorer section. On the other hand, I completely understand how the other voters could be weirded out by the song and decided to give it a low score.
It's not a loss for me, though.

And since we're going to lose two album tracks today, I predict that one of them is from "It's a Man's World" and the other one from "Not That Kind". The other can easily be B-sides or other optional songs.

Edit: Oop, I was wrong.
