Not That Kind of Rate: Anastacia | Finished

And another album takes a hit as the final loss of the day. A bonustrack departs, which might mean we are out of them. But we still have technically I Thought I Told You That and Boom if you consider them as such. Also, I am SCREAMING this track is leaving at #69 of all possible numbers.

The fact that this was not a single let alone part of the album is probably the biggest crime this entire era happened. Well that is a lie, because Absolutely Positively happened. But a crime is a crime. Honestly, Love is a Crime is shook. It found a jazz anthem sister. In fact she does a fantastic job at this in particularly with her timing during the middle-8 and then that delicious adlib into the pre-chorus. I honestly need her to perform this with a big band and I am sure she can holds her own vocally against those horns. Let's get the negativity out of the way first, from @berserkboi "Not unpleasant but not something I’d want to ever hear again...". @londonrain being absolutely positively and bringing the tea "A bop. This would have been a better single than Absolutely Positively dddd." @Maki is stanning too "Ooh, this is so sassy and rings back right to her debut album (in a good way), despite having something very 2008 about it at the same time. Love the brass and the middle-8 is really good. Even though it lacks something, this could've appeared on the standard edition of the album." It really makes you wonder if this wasn't a bonustrack it would have performed better...

We lose two album tracks. One should have gone a long time ago. One should have stayed. And we lose two singles who did not appear on her album.

He/Him
Considering Anastacia’s interests judging by the Naughty cover (loving it @Sprockrooster) she should have committed to the Gay Agenda fully and covered this on her Man’s World album with altered lyrics! I feel it might have been my 11 all of a sudden ddd

You'll Be Fine - 6,25
~ Along with "Absolutely Positively" and "In Summer", this rounds up my bottom 3 of this album, so it's nice to see it nearly leave in that batch. Pleasant but unremarkable is the best way to describe it. There are some nice melodies and instrumental parts (such as the little strings in the pre-chorus), but not nearly as much as in...

Same Song - 10
~ Argh, I just knew this one would end up underrated. By far my biggest loss so far and my first proper 10* to leave. However, I had no idea it would leave at this point. In the bottom 5 of "Heavy Rotation", really? It really is an impeccable song in all aspects and was done so damn wrong. Also, it's worth of noting that Anastacia hits a lovely and rare falsetto A5 note during the gorgeous outro of the song - she very almost never uses that register for some reason.
Thank you king @DJHazey for appreciating this fantastic song and giving it full marks! I was fearing that I was going to be the only one who gave it a 10. Also, please tell me those Natasha Bedingfield songs it reminded you of. Oh, and a shoutout to the tasteful bunch @pop3blow2, @Lost Boy and @soratami for giving it a 9.

*not counting "Left Outside Alone, pt. 2", since I should've given it a 9.75 and/or it isn't really an original song.

Best of You - 9
~ My second favourite song from the album and it's nice to see that we collectively agreed about it. Like I mentioned, it used to be my initial favourite, but "Dream On" took that spot while I was listening to the album for this rate. There's so much power in her vocals and it really suits her perfectly. Definitely single-worthy (when speaking of that album). Yeah, the hook may be repetitive, but it's a great song and it deserved to do well, at least for "It's a Man's World" standards.

The Saddest Part - 6,75
~ One of those songs I simply couldn't recall just by seeing its title. Luckily, that changed during this rate. On the other hand, my love/lack of love towards it hasn't changed. Even though the verses and atmospheric production are very nice, the chorus has always been underwhelming for me. I think I even overscored it a tiny bit, but that's mostly due to it being among optional songs. It's a great placement for a B-side.

Don't Stop (Doin' It) - 6,75
~ I'm actually quite surprisd to see this one reach top 70, since it's so unremarkable. Totally makes sense that it's among the last songs that didn't receive any 10's, too. I mean, it's cute and useable, but not a standout by any means. This song is very 90's, especially due to the backing vocals, which some of you already noticed. The chorus is catchy, but the verses are very forgettable. And despite the song being a perfectly fine and listenable track, it provides absolutely nothing innovative nor groundbreaking the slightest and fails to stand out, so that's why I compared it to "Yo Trippin'" (which I actually prefer a bit compared to this one). Thought they would leave sooner one after another.

Naughty - 7,75
~ I can't get over the fact that this one departed at #69 - there really isn't a more apt choice than this one. Anyways, this is quite a solid bop and a bit of an understated song as such. Anastacia can't do wrong with those sassy & brassy tunes and it's nice that she re-visited them on "Evolution" (even though they're mostly not as good). It's such an enjoyable listen and, like @Sprockrooster said, she rips that middle-8 to pieces. Definitely better than several tracks that made the standard editions. I could've actually bumped its score a bit. Considering its bonus track status, this did okay.

By the way, if I had to guess today's eliminations, I would've guessed three of them (since they are all from different albums). My final guess for today would've been "Apology" - can't see that one going much further. The same thing goes for "Broken Wings" and "I Don't Want to Be the One".

Naughty - 8.3. This song is a helluva lot of fun, the horn section is fabulous and it gets me shimmying along.

The Saddest Part. This caught me completely off guard. I sat listening late one night and started to cry and that's when I decided to award it a 10. The guitars are gorgeous, the drums are subtle and intimate and I love the little touch of Cello. The vocals are touching, heart-rending, and watching her sing it live you get the sense that the lyrics mean a lot to her. It also had me asking myself questions; had I given my heart away for nothing in return? Or was I the one who was empty? A reflective song for the still of the night.

Some things I forgot to say:

@londonrain's comment for "Same Song" made me giggle. I still hate you for taking the song, though.
That tie seemed quite random, but oh well. I think there's only one more tie in the rate.

I love how you did this graph representation. My personal ranking of her B-sides is:
1. Underground Army (7)
2. Twisted Girl (6.75)
3. Underdog (6.75)
4. The Saddest Part (6.75)
5. Get Ready (6.5)
6. Late Last Night (6)
7. Nothin' At All (5.75)
8. Baptize My Soul (5.5)

The top 3 from "It's a Man's World", according to this forum, is:
1. You Give Love a Bad Name
2. Best of You
3. Dream On

Which is the same top 3 as mine, just in a different order:
1. Dream On
2. Best of You
3. You Give Love a Bad Name

Also, now that we eliminated "Don't Stop (Doin' It)", there's only one song remaining that didn't receive any 10's (but I don't know which one it is).

A bit unexpected that "I Belong To You (Il Ritmo Della Passione)" is still in, considering it's a ballad with a male feature, but I'm fine with it staying for a bit.
What I do hope/expect we see "Apology" and "Broken Wings" leave today.

Don't Stop (Doin It) | 6.75 | Being called the album's "Yo Trippin" is apt considering I dislike that one and it does sound a lot like what I'd call her 'early era' sound. These are the cuts we should be making instead of the destruction of Heavy Rotation.

Naughty | 6.5 | Okay well throwbacks to that sound from Heavy Rotation can go at this time too.

Thank you for letting us know. I can stop refreshing the page now! Even if you have to take a day off from reveals that's fine.
You do know that you can 'watch the thread' and get notifiied if someone posts something (that also includes others).

Loving the professionalism of letting people know planned eliminations won't be taking place after all.
Thanks. It is literal mayhem ddd. We have examweek and the power is out in a part of the building and because of Corona we have to spread as much as possible so now we are basically partly in the cafetaria taking the exams.

Let's get back on the road. Starting with an albumtrack that should have gone a long time ago. Especially so that an other could stay.

This track is weird to me. I always forget it exists and I always think I do not like it, but when I hear it I kind of like it. And then I forget again. Maybe Anastacia has the same issue. It is one of the tracks that was able to be selected on the Ultimate Collection Tour but somehow never made it onto the A4App-album despite it getting through a few times in the poll. I hardly think it has to do with a bad vocal take cause it clearly is one of her easier songs to sing and lacks a big adlib. She keeps it small and that is the beauty of this track. @berserkboi says "Pretty but a little lifeless!" I think that sums it up quite well. @Maki comes with a great discovery "Quite ironic that she follows a song containing a lyric "I make no apologies" with this. Anyways, it's a very nice ballad, but I've had enough of them already." The problem of this album. @londonrain comes with a question I have no answer to "Which Grey's Anatomy episode is this from?" Never watched that. I did like Gay's Anatomy!
