Time to start the day with losing one of the two remaining title tracks. We already lost Freak of Nature (47) and Resurrection (40). So which title track will win that mini-competition - Not That Kind or Heavy Rotation?

I told you all the route to top 20 was rough. Nobody called for this. But this feels very unexpected. Especially since it went top 10 last time. And even without the new singles/albumtracks this performed a whole lot worse. Not That Kind was the kickstart for her career as this track was the one she performed on talent show The Cut making sure both Elton John and Michael Jackson would get her a record deal behind the scenes. It was however the second single from the album of the same name. The song is in its message a clear reference of individuality and female empowerment. There is a sass and wit in her lyrics that makes this track standout in her discography to me. She will not be messed with and it also shows in her delivery. Not That Kind is definitely among the more soul-inspired sounding songs in her discography with clear elements of funk.
Ric Wake produced the track and his remix of this track also got some airplay. The same can be said about the Kerri Chandler Vocal mix of this track which I prefer of the remixes. Later in her career in the mid 10’s she would release a country version of this track as support of her clothing line endeavour with ALDI. Though none of them come close to the original track. Speaking of the original track. I kind of missed/ignored the entire release of this. It wasn’t until much further into her career I grew into appreciating this track. And now it has. I am not letting it go. This song is literally the fundament of her career. @livefrommelbs handed out a 7,5 and says "It feels weird to give this a relatively 'low' score, but it's never really connected with me. I don't doubt the gals will boost it up the countdown though!" @berserkboi starts about the vocals "Affectations galore, but a very good melody!" Yet it is the melody that is the issue for @Maki "I love the production - it just sounds so crisp. Her vocals are fantastic and so propulsive. The chorus is excellent, too. All that being said, the song has never been among my favourites from her. I guess the melody is what doesn't click with me completely. Still, a song that is definitely a mid-tempo bop." @londonrain gave a 9,5 so perhaps he wishes now he gave this a 10 instead "Anastacia puts more into the opening line than many artists put into an entire song. I love this so much." That intro is fantastic indeed!
