Not That Kind of Rate: Anastacia | Finished

I'm still stoked that I'm only left with perfect scores since the top 6 - that has never happened and probably will never happen in rates.
My average score for this top 5 is 10.2 and I'm pretty sure that's a one-off.

"Paid My Dues" is definitely among the career highlights and it kind of feels wrong that it isn't in the top 5, but literally everything left is masterclass, so only the smallest things make the difference. It was the weakest link for me, despite being pretty much a perfect song.

"Sick and Tired" leaving just before the top 4 and therefore making four different eras represented with one song is perfect. It's a brilliant song and worthy of all praise, but in Anastacia's case, even technical stuff like this is acceptable for a loss.

I can proudly say that I'll be happy with any outcome. It's a big relief compared to nearly any rate I took part in. There's literally no way I can choose a favourite among this magnificent top 5. All of them are winners in their own way (I should include "Paid My Dues" here).

Alongside the Filippine for 'Anastacia' and 'Sprocky' I wanted to make one for my back-up host @Maki as a thank you. Sadly we lose crucial letter from our first loss in the top 5 to make that name.
Aww, that's so nice of you (even though it didn't end up happening lol).

Sick And Tired - 10. This was a close second for my 11. I can relate to the lyrics about letting go of a person or situation that you have discovered is not conducive to your well-being, and wishing you had learnt that earlier. There's something about the melody, when combined with the lyrics, that I find so compelling. I especially love the last chorus where Anastacia is singing with herself. I can listen to it many times and not get sick or tired.

So we are going to our top 3. And with pain in my heart we say goodbye to a big one. It did not get as many 10's as most other tracks in the top 10 ("only 13") which is just under half of the voters. The reason it got so far despite of it? Well it got 4 11's!! WHEW! It is the song with the second most. So at least it has that!

Being produced by the team who also did I’m Outta Love there can’t be denied the same energy is heard. It's video has a summerish vibe which was about time. I mean somebody with a trademark being sunglasses, was in desperate need of pool/beach video. On the video collection there is a bonus of the making of that music video. Dave Meyers did a respectable job on this song as it did the heavy lifting to make this song a classic for me. She loved working with Meyers and it shows. It is 3 minutes and 24 seconds of pure pleasure and joy. The visuals – certain camera moves – are a bit dated, but they still capture that sparkle. Also because some of them are still cute such as the Van Gogh inspired cereal box. This song has the weird honour of being omitted from the Live at Last DVD despite it being part of the setlist. On the bonus DVD a performance of it from the Encore Tour was included. It was omitted from the concert registration for no apparent reason, but I can’t help but feel she was off key during the entire song or something.

In Europe the song was a massive hit, but stateside she actually managed a #1 on the dance club charts for the first time. I guess One Day In Your Life did that. Despite dropping a place compared to the singles rate here I still feel like this has done really well. Not entirely sure how @londonrain feels about that considering a certain song is still here "This HAS to be an easy top five contender, if not a possible winner. One of her best bops. I actually have a framed copy of these lyrics signed by Anastacia in my house!" WHEW. We need a pic (not for confirmation; but just for the absolute bliss it has to be). Let's go to @livefrommelbs who says "I know it's essentially I'm Outta Love 2.0, but a bop is a bop is a bop." In my opinion an evolution of I'm Outta Love. I would have loved it if One Day In Your Life outperformed it like happened in the singles rate when I'm Outta Love left at #6. @berserkboi needs a reminder "As boppy as Anastacia got back then - I enjoy though I hardly ever return to it!" Let's close with @bonnieetclyde "Banger! I feel sorry for the US not getting the European mix of this track [which is so much better]. That US version completely sucked the life out of the song. This is probably my favourite Anastacia uptempo track." Yeah. That US version is rather superfluous when you know the European one.

I think it is time for a twist. At #3 we lose a song that managed 3 11's. But also a whopping 18 10's. Only 6 people did not give it a 10 or 11. However most importantly. It is the song who had the #1 position the longest during the entire voting period. And suddenly it has to settle with bronze.

Commentary from livefrommelbs "While 'Left Outside Alone' is my all-time favourite Anastacia song, it ultimately felt right to give me 11 to 'Stupid Little Things'. I remember hearing it in 2014 and being utterly flawed. After years of waned interest in Anastacia's output, the good sis defied every expectation and absolutely COMMANDED me to sit up to start taking notice again. I love how it starts off inoccuously enough - the drums under the verse have a sense of urgency about them and Ana sounds predictably great, but it's just the tip of the iceberg. The 'when I get too close to my somedays' hook is an earworm and a half - and the perfect entree to the chorus, which is a whole damn meal. Easily one of her best - and certainly one of the most impactful examples of pop-rock power in more recent years. Factor in the absolutely incendiary ad libs towards the end of the track and you 3 minutes and 55 seconds of excellence."
Believe. Hung Up. It’s Like That. Stupid Little Things. All 11/10’s when rating comebacks that set artist back on the map. Yes, Stupid Little Things is far from the chart success the other three tracks have. But it did revitalise the fan base and gave hope. She clearly still has it and this song is a return to form. The song was also her first release since her battle with breast cancer and the last time we had that was the birth of Left Outside Alone. Honestly I was not expecting something this good. Her career was in a bit of a dip, but this was everything the fanily needed. The song deals with a love interest gone wrong so it doesn’t reflect on her breast cancer, but that doesn’t make this song less defiant. There are a lot of similarities with Left Outside Alone. In the chorus there seems to be a similar structure and where Left Outside Alone talks about a fairy tale gone wrong Stupid Little Things has it about a fantasy not come true.

@londonrain is so damn wrong. I... "This is nice, but I never got why so many of her fans stan this so hard. Staring At The Sun would have been a better lead." @berserkboi is disappointed (just like me) "Fun production, and Anastacia really comes to the party! A winner!" Imagine it winning. The wig snatches it would have caused in the winners rate. Obviously I'm Outta Love will do well in it's winners rate also if it is our winner now. Left Outside Alone was in the first winners rate so it can't enter anymore. Let's close with @Maki "What a comeback single! I can only imagine how fans felt hearing this for the first time, after 5 years of agony. Those ad-libs. That chorus! This is 100% sprock Anastacia at her best and deserves a top 5 placement." TOP 3 BABY! Which we can't say for the singlesrate where it placed at #6. The sheer disrespect.
