Now That's What I Call Music (Nostalgia)

Thanks to @nlgbbbblth for pointing me in the direction of those NOW 12" sets, which have extended mixes of Queen tracks that I couldn't find!

HMV are doing a 2 for 15 on the NOW range, so I got both 12" 80s and 12" Extended, as the tracklisting on that one looks good too. And I'm fairly sure I don't have A Kind Of Magic 12" either (I've yet to fully tackle that one for a deluxe).

You're welcome. Both good sets! I have this in my iTunes. Cobbled it together a while ago. In the same vein as Cyndi Lauper and Tina Turner mid-80s Japanese remix / 12" mix CDs.

My bonus tracks for A Kind Of Magic so far amount to:

ONE VISION 7"
BLURRED VISION
A DOZEN RED ROSES FOR MY DARLING
FRIENDS WILL BE FRIENDS WILL BE FRIENDS...
WHO WANTS TO LIVE FOREVER 7"
PAIN IS SO CLOSE TO PLEASURE [SINGLE REMIX]
A KIND OF A KIND OF MAGIC
FOREVER
A KIND OF MAGIC [HIGHLANDER VERSION]
A KIND OF VISION [DEMO]

Some from Singles Box 3 (which I got for £10 in an HMV fire sale), some from the original 1986 CD album, and the rest from the 2011 deluxe which I have plans to get this weekend.

Plus I will have A Kind Of Magic 12" from the set I just bought. To bring it back on topic!

Just got this question on one of the comments page of my site.

I don’t know the answer. Does anyone here?

“Hi can anyone confirm that 2 tracks on Now Yearbook 1983 Extra are rerecordings. Michael Sembello Maniac and When We Were Young by Bucks Fizz. I know for sure Bucks Fizz redid this track with the new girl Kelly replacing Jay Aston's vocals and I think they've included the re done version here.”

Shelley re-voicing When We Were Young seems odd, as it's a 1983 song, 2-3 years before she joined. Unless it was on a later comp with "original artists/re-recordings" stuff on it. Maniac has several mixes/variants of the original. I doubt it's a re-recording. I'll have to compare it with the mixes I have on other film comps, the Sembello album and the Flashdance OST!

It's Jay's vocals for sure, I've never heard a re-recorded version with Shelley singing WWWY

Just listened to both and both sound the original versions to my ears. Unless Shelley could do an incredible Jay impression.

The next release on the now bandwagon Punk & New Wave has the single mix of the Rezillos Top Of The Pops on there, which I think may be the first time on a compilation since 2011's Going Underground 3 CD Set.

Another hour in life...and here's another New NOW compilation with a tenuous title:
NOW that's what I call another cash in/jumping on a bandwagon....?

Will check it out properly soon.

Been redoing my 1984 "Singles Log" CDs, as by the time I completed the 80s, I'd got into a better method of compiling them and also found close to 100 extra tracks from 1984 that really needed to be included (we're talking quite obscure non-Top 40 stuff of course!).

These newer ones for 1984 (in blue) supercede the old (grey) ones. Only done up to Vol. 11 (April) thus far.

Meanwhile, I feel another "inbetweener" NOW blog post coming on!
