Looks like the final Now release of the year will be Now Yearbook 1980-1984 Vinyl Extra, a 5LP box of tracks that haven't been included on a Now Yearbook vinyl edition. Seems to be tracks from the Yearbook and Extra CDs.

It only serves to remind what an incredible year 1985 was for music that so many of the artists I thought might put in an appearance have been (criminally) overlooked, including... and... and, what on earth, leaving out the legend that is... I've said before, we're now in a stage of the game where there'd be justification for a Yearbook Extra Plus edition. Ah, good times! Edit: And if the NOW team are reading this, there's your first three tracks for Now Yearbook - The Final Chapter 1985-1989. You're welcome!
Mai Tai's History should be as revered as The Pointer Sisters classics, it's an absolute bop. I never liked My Toot Toot by Denise La Frightwig though. Clouds across the moon is utter, utter cheese but has a charm about it.
History definitely on my Extra Plus 1985. It now looks like no Extra for The Final Chapter so I will shortly finalise my Extra Plus revisions for 1980 to 1984 and also publish More Extra Plus lists for 1980 to 1984.
Mai Tai in general deserve WAY more love than they get. I’ll never understand how ‘1 Touch 2 Much’ wasn’t an enormous global smash.
Yes, Jetty Weels and the girls deserved to be on Yearbook and Yearbook Extra, given the aforementioned top 10 smash was followed by another, equally brilliant top 10 smash... The parent album is back-to-back brilliance and should have been massive. I suspect there'll be many more classics not included thus far, and of course the absence of Madonna in anything '85 related casts a very long shadow, but we are blessed to live in a time when we can make our own playlists. And while I'm at it, what kind of epic failing led to the absence of Amazulu?? Criminal.
Looking at the timings for NOW 85 Extra, looks like Paul Young is the album version, Thompson Twins is the 3 25 version , good news is Elton John looks to be the single mix at 4 18.
Playing Now Extra 81 and intrigued how (for me at least) the biggest hits are the furthest down on the tracklist. Is this kind of a 'reverse Now experience' where the first songs on the tracklist should make you think 'wow these are really rare and original picks'?
Got a pleasant surprise on Christmas Day from my family Now Yearbook 1980-1984 The Final Chapter 3xLP Now Yearbook 1980-1984 Extra Vinyl 5xLP The latter is really nice - some notes on the reverse of each outer sleeve.
Am I right in thinking they announced Now Yearbook 82 the first week of 2022? We could get an announcement very soon.
I have updated my Extra Plus playlists for 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983 & 1984. Any duplication with The Final Chapter or its uncoming Extra has been amended. See here ALSO There's scope for an Extra Plus 2CD addendum to the 1985 Yearbook & Extra releases. Here's what you could have won.....
Found another tempting Now joblot. No details on the state of the discs though. Did message them (well throught an offer since they had messaging turned of) and the reply was 'I don't ship outside the UK', despite shipping offers in the ad. (No answer about the discs either) Are joblots on ebay just always questionable?? (I wish there was a quick way to find someone offering multiple Now's on Discogs) https://www.ebay.nl/itm/364103101560?hash=item54c63c6c78:g:TGAAAOSwSAtjubWh
Like everything, it's hit and miss. I buy several joblots/bundles from there...all sorts of things...two bundles of 10 NOWs (covering 31-50), a Rolling Stones bundle, quite a few others for 90s pop. On the whole it's been fine- sometiimes one of the discs is a bit iffy but I usually get either a partial refund or they're so cheap overall I don't bother and just buy another copy elsewhere. I can usually sense when it's a "couldn;t give a shit" type mega seller, or a collector/trader with a better attitude and more care towards what they sell.
Yeah here going by the picture it all looked perfectly neat, but not having messaging available and avoiding a question did nothing for him.
