Listen Like Thieves and Welcome to Wherever You Are, are the two peaks of the canon imho. X has only got two killer tracks for me in Hear That Sound and Disappear, rest are fine but nothing moves me the way say, Shine Like It Does or Same Direction does. For me, the signs of drop-off were from Listen Like Thieves to Kick, rather than Kick to X (but I agree they smoothed off even more edges with X). I was just so underwhelmed by Kick, and I've never quite figured out why. I think it's that I loved the previous 2 albums so much.
Am I getting old or anti Now, but that is such a predictable tracklist. I havent bought 1980 and I doubt I'll buy 1981.
God this got me tempted to do dutch yearbooks!
Great job on the artwork btw, what did you use?
1986 B side of Aussie single? What's 'Different world'? Never heard of that one.
It doesn't help that this tracklisting comes right after the Arthur Baker album announcement. These can fail in comparison.Am I getting old or anti Now, but that is such a predictable tracklist. I havent bought 1980 and I doubt I'll buy 1981.
The NOW team can't really win - if they don't fill these 12" volumes with all the classics, people will criticise it for not having something or other, and if they do put everything obvious on it, that feels a bit anti-climactic.It doesn't help that this tracklisting comes right after the Arthur Baker album announcement. Just found it on Spotify. It's..well, it's a b side.1986 B side of Aussie single?
And get @nlgbbbblth on board!I'd love NOW to go Niche, especially in the world of Pop! It'd be quite a unique selling point for them.
Let the budget compilations recycle, and let the NOW team go spelunking in the world of Pop for rarely licensed goodies & unique themed concepts.
Ab-so-bloody-lutely!And @AcerBenII & @aquaplex for 90s/00s themed ones as well.
We should start a thread where we contribute to make the ultimate themed compilations and see if any label would back us!Ab-so-bloody-lutely!
