Now That's What I Call Music (Nostalgia)

I think Now have put Too Many Broken Hearts and Hand On Your Heart next to each other on every 1989 compilation they've ever appeared on!

Apart from the obvious unavailable to licence acts, that's a pretty good overview of the year. Shame Erasure are so anti these sort of compilations, as I always associate them as a 'Now' act.

Manchild is already on Disc 4 of the Yearbook '89.

I would love Starlight's Numero Uno as the only album I have ever known that to be on was Monster Hits from 1989. For a Top 10 hit it is never compiled on any dance CDs.
Yeah I’d agree, must be licensing. I think it was licensed originally from DiscoMagic to the long defunct Citybeat in the Uk, so perhaps no one has gone back to DJ Lelewel to relicense it. I think I ended up buying the Uk and Euro BCM cd singles so I always had it. Choon! It’s also miles better than Ride On Time…

I've got Numero Uno on the 'Deep Heat 89 - Fight the Flame' compilation double CD. I think it's the normal single version.

Another EMI act gave Queen a run for their money in the 80's:

Duran Duran kicked off
Now 3 - The Reflex
Now 5 - A view to a kill
Now 8 - Notorious
Spice Girls also flew the flag for Virgin/EMI
NOW 34: Wannabe
NOW 35: Say You’ll Be There
NOW 36: Mama
and for me NOW 38: Spice Up Your Life (cos I ain’t listening to the actual first track)
Just playing this - features quite a few of the tracks that were on Now's Summer Album from 1986

Also compiled by Ashley Abram

I asked Ashley on Twitter a few years ago about the Summer album ‘cos I wanted to know how they got 2 Beatles tracks for it. Apparently Apple were really happy with the sales and exposure John Lennon got on the Christmas album the year before, so when the NOW Team asked to have “Here Comes The Sun” for the summer album they said yes, but only if you include this other Beatles song as well. As if NOW we’re gonna say no to that.

I have Numero Uno on this from back in the day:
