  1. Was it this statement you mean? Very moving I thought:

  2. Frida from ABBA gave a lovely one too.

  3. Lots of very moving tributes I think. Goes to show how much Olivia was admired and loved.

  4. I only discovered this song a few years ago and it’s one of my favourites now too. It was playing in a shop in Glasgow and I immediately loved it, I knew it was Olivia by the voice but had never heard it before so I immediately Shazammed it and added it on Spotify. My favourite ONJ songs are her bangers

    A Little More Love
    Magic
    Xanadu
    Twist of Fate
    Physical

but I also adore Suddenly with Cliff. R.I.P. ONJ.

  5. I love Suddenly too and it's my favourite of her duets that I've heard too. So lovely.

  6. I also love Suddenly. The one thing I love about the Xanadu singles is they are so atmospheric, they sound otherworldly.

  7. I decided to make my own playlist of what was in my view, her best run of work of singles from 1978-1983, an compilation I've just called Olivia's Greatest Hits Collection. I imagined it as though it was released in 1983, with the superb Twist Of Fate and Livin' In Desperate Times, as the two brand new singles on it. Here is the tracklisting:

    Side A:
    1.Twist Of Fate
    2.Make A Move On Me
3.You're The One That I Want
    4.Magic
    5.Heart Attack
    6.A Little More Love
    7.Suddenly
    8.Summer Nights

    Side B:
    1.Livin' In Desperate Times
    2.Deeper Than The Night
    3.Landslide
    4.Totally Hot
    5.Tied Up
    6.Xanadu
    7.Hopelessly Devoted To You
    8.Physical

Such a stong run of hits there in my view too.

  8. Interestingly that tracklisting, bar the two cuts from 'Two Of A Kind', is almost identical the Australian edition of 'Greatest Hits Vol. 2' (released as 'Vol. 3' here as we had an additional early compilation that was counted as canon here). We got an extra 4 tracks compared to the domestic US release. It's an excellent overview of her halcyon period, or her 'Britney years' as she would later call them.

  9. Olivia was the Queen of Album Fold-outs. I love the Greatest Hits Vol. 2 and same with the Two of a Kind...

  10. I’ve been watching a lot of Olivia videos this week and she really was breathtakingly beautiful, especially in the late 70s/early 80s.

  11. Channel 4 is showing Grease tomorrow at 5.55pm as a tribute to Olivia. She really was perfect in that film, both as "good" and "bad" Sandy. I can't imagine anyone else in that role. I love that it's a film that gets handed down from generation to generation, it truly is timeless.

  12. Track list for the upcoming If Not For You reissue is up. I realise that these songs will only be known by her long term fans! Still, disc 2 is very good.

  13. I love this album artwork, I have that photo on a T shirt too as it happens. Her best period music wise I really do think, she just had hit after hit.

  14. Brilliant. So all five of the tracks I mentioned in previous posts are included. I hope they’ve found the master tapes for all of them and there are no vinyl rips.

This looks very interesting. Are there two versions/mixes of The Biggest Clown and Would You Follow Me then? They’re listed twice.

  15. Thanks, I’d not seen that. What I had seen is something I clicked on from the Daily Mirror where Mike Read was saying Cliff was too upset to comment. Clearly a load of nonsense then, as is the Daily Mirror in general.

  16. Yes, alternate vocals on both I believe.

The bonus disc tracklisting is exceptional - two completely unreleased songs rescued from private acetates, the first digital release of both sides of the Toomorrow single as well as ‘The Biggest Clown’, a couple of alternate takes, and a handful of other rarities that have never appeared on an Olivia release (the Decca single, German ‘Ohio’). Bravo! I have a particular attachment to her debut album because it was the first one I ever listened to.

  17. Would You Follow Me is a hidden gem, I'm happy we're getting it twice on the new set.

  20. I wonder if there will be an new Greatest Hits album at some point? So few are in print now. Not that any could match this though for both quality and artwork:
