Olivia Newton John

Thanks. I haven’t ordered it yet. I’m waiting to see if the price comes down a bit as the cheapest I can see for the CD is about £15. It’s not an essential purchase as I have all the tracks elsewhere many times over (most of them are on Gold). The first Greatest Hits was different as there was the odd track (such as Jolene) that I didn’t actually have on CD.

I didn’t bother with the 1976 Christmas Broadcast CD either. I knew it was unofficial, but the Amazon reviews saying about the poor sound quality put me off.

One example: “I was looking forward to hearing this but the sound quality is awful. I know that this is a Japanese broadcast but it sounds like it has been recorded straight from the radio with a very dodgy cassette recorder. You even get the adverts (in Japanese) with the radio host translating every time Olivia speaks. One for die hard fans only.”
Yes, I didn’t bother with the radio broadcast CD either. There’s another one out soon too.

Just looking on Discogs and the 1983 CD edition of the EMI hybrid “Olivia’s Greatest Hits” has quite an odd tracklisting. It misses out all three Grease songs along with Landslide and Xanadu. It also removes Rosewater and What Is Life but adds Deeper Than The Night and The Promise. Artwork is more similar to Vol 2.

1. Physical
2. Deeper Than The Night
3. A Little More Love
4. Magic
5. Heart Attack
6. Make A Move On Me
7. Tied Up
8. Suddenly
9. Changes
10. If Not For You
11. Banks Of The Ohio
12. Take Me Home Country Roads
13. Sam
14. The Promise
15. I Honestly Love You

That was the first Olivia CD I bought in 1985.

Do you still have it? That was in the days when CDs were really expensive compared to vinyl or cassette (about the same price they are now so in real terms have dropped by a considerable amount)!

Obviously they couldn’t possibly fit the 20 tracks from the vinyl/cassette version onto it but some odd omissions.

Yes, I still have it. Bought it on 18th May 1985! According to my ‘buying book’, it cost £11.99.

There’s a mistake on Physical on the CD though. Part of the intro is cut off for some reason.

See the first offering from Olivia's forthcoming posthumous Duets compilation, Just The Two Of Us was released yesterday (I believe). A version of Jolene with none other Dolly herself:

Here is the artwork for the album too:

Hopelessly Devoted To You,the Olivia biopic starring Delta Goodrem is on Channel 5 tomorrow at 12.25pm.

Followed at 2.35pm by a showing of ''Grease 2'' (don't think they've currently got the rights to show the first film on the channel)
Thanks for the heads up, have always wanted to see this.
