The last time the nominations leader won best picture was the last time Jimmy Kimmel hosted, so I’m hoping for Everything Everywhere…, but I still need to watch The Fabelmans and Women Talking whenever that comes out here.

Probably anti Top Gun and All Quiet but not strongly rooting against.

We're truly through the looking glass in terms of "the Oscar movie" because I'm in a group chat with some GP tastes and they're all shocked that Top Gun got nominated because it's a big movie, now that they've all been conditioned to expect indies they've never heard of.

...why they aren't bringing up Avatar, I don't know.

Jim Cameron is an emerging indie director I have no idea what you mean xo

Riseborough getting nominated at the final hour for a film nobody has heard of, nobody has watched and nobody will see is just iconic, legendary scammery. Whoever orchestrated that whole charade is getting a promotion

Thrilled for Angela and Stephanie. Still have a sneaking suspicion Condon will be a surprise win, but hoping it’s all Angela.

I haven’t seen Riseborough’s performance so no opinion on her making it in, but a bit surprised at Ana getting in over Deadwyler.

Till was not a great movie but she was the heart and soul of it and put in a worthy performance.

I was never sold on Viola making it in. She was always the questionable 5th slot for me even tho I worship that woman.

I wish Deadwyler replaced Williams. Blanchett, Yeoh, Deadwyler, de Armas, and Riseborough (if as good as her peers are suggesting) would have been a strong, strong lineup for me.

It seems ridiculous saying that someone is underrated when she’s not getting her fifth nomination, but it is just stupid not honouring Viola when Cate’s on her eighth.

Particularly ridiculous to recognise neither Viola nor Danielle Deadwyler, who's about the same age as Andrea and with a not dissimilar career trajectory - but I suppose Danielle and her manager didn't have a network of well-connected white female peers to whom they could issue an eleventh hour clarion call.

On the subject of The Woman King, I'd happily replace Jamie Lee in Best Supporting Actress with Thuso Mbedu or even Lashana Lynch, who's also been unfairly overlooked for Matilda the Musical.
