Oscar Bait 2022 - 2023

Something isn’t adding up with the story. Florence posted happily about working with Shia on her Instagram in April 2020 (it’s still there if you wanna check!) so I don’t think that’s the reason she didn’t wanna work with him. The allegations didn’t come out until December 2020 when he had already joined and left the film in August 2020. In Olivia’s video it seemed more like a spat between Flo and Shia rather than her refusing to work with him due to the allegations. I don’t think it’s a simple as Florence = good for not wanting to work with an abuser and Olivia = bad for wanting to work with an abuser. But I suppose it’s possible Florence already heard about the abuse before December 2020 and that’s why she didn’t want to work with him.

I read somewhere (probably DeuxMou ddd) that Florence's issue with Olivia comes down largely to her not being that present as a director, and the A.D or cinematographer was often stepping in to direct when Olivia was.....distracted. That makes the most sense to me. The stuff with Harry was probably the icing on the cake of several issues relating to professionalism.

I'm catching up and...what a mess. Poor Florence being caught in all of this.

I don't get why Olivia felt like she could lie about Shia's exit like that, when there were texts and that video saying otherwise. Did she really think he'd just take it and not prove her wrong?

I think the real story involves Harry/her being absent during filming and Shia was an easy scapegoat for any on set drama.

What I’m getting is… Florence and Shia didn’t gel when they were in pre-production, Shia bails and Olivia takes his side, now Florence is stuck (maybe she wanted out but the studio really wanted her to stay), then Harry is brought in and now Florence is really stuck because she has to act for two, and then Olivia and Harry become a thing and Olivia bails on the ins and outs of directing, and now Florence isn’t just stuck but she’s alone.

On the plus side, every young actress needs a cult disaster on their IMDB page and she’s got her’s.

Florence seemed excited about Harry joining at first and has since completely ignored him. I really think it comes down to the film being a subplot for an affair is probably what bothers Florence, as she takes herself quite seriously. To have your role in a Marvel film be more respected, whereas this is completely overshadowed by tabloid gossip, is quite sad.

Bardo looks like it might end up being the most polarizing film of the festival circuit (or maybe ultimately just derided).
