Angela should have more than two nominations, and it would be better if there were better roles for her to win a competitive award.

There are about 50 people who warrant a Honorary Oscar before Angela Basset who is in her early 60's and has been notable in the industry for little of 30 years. There are people in their 90's who've been around since the 50's that have yet to be chosen. Apart from anything else she's more than likely to actually win one in the nest few years anyway. This is ludicrously premature and slightly insulting. The epitome of a pity award.

Mel Brooks has already so also shouldn't be considered.

The Honorary Oscars have been a total mess for a decade or more now.

Been at Sundance the last couple of days and already seen Past Lives and Talk To Me; Past Lives is gorgeous and emotional and Greta Lee is a new obsession of mine. Talk To Me is a fantastically scary horror, loved it and loved seeing Miranda Otto with a meaty role.

Eowyn hive, this is our moment! Miranda is criminally underrated, she deserves the world.

Oh, Asteroid City was kinda a miss for me. Looked stunning as ever but the plot was barely there. And it got a bit ridiculous with all the cameos and the bloated cast, it felt like everyone was there for like 2 seconds. A shame, because I had pretty much the same issues with The French Dispatch. On paper Wes does sci-fi should be a 10/10 banger.

I liked it, a Wes Anderson film is so easy to get lost in and even though the majority of the humour usually goes over my head, they all prove enjoyable enough for me. I think he does suffer from trying to be a bit too clever sometimes however. Scarlett and Tilda were both great in it and the highlights for me, along with the 5 young smart kids. I need to catch up with The French Dispatch!

Saw Passages last night starring Ben Whishaw, and he was there to talk about it - some really great chemistry and acting, it's definitely going to prove popular. He's so shy in real life I can't! Also spotted Oliver Sim and Kit Connor in the audience too.

Battlefields are now battlefields.

Another Apple movie gets a 'proper' release I see. Looks like the world's slowest-dropping penny finally hit the ground.

Oscar-wise, Ridley Scott's films always feel like they could go either way and this is no exception.

Both Apple and Amazon have committed to giving at least some of their films full releases, particularly the latter since the MGM acquisition.

Isn’t the Academy requiring it too for films to be considered?
Only a week in 10 of the top 50 US markets, so not a huge amount more than the current week long qualifying release in one city. I think it’s good these two are doing more than that. Will be interesting to see how Netflix reacts.
