I think… they’ll give Justine Original Screenplay, or at least what I mean is I wouldn’t be surprised if they do. That would kind of fit the recent pattern of giving the awards to a broader cast of people. Then Oppenheimer will take Director and Picture, it’s just so rare that they have an opportunity to give a prestigious film like it Picture, and it also be one that general audiences saw and pushed it to $1B. To pass on that would be another nail in the Academy’s coffin.

I finally watched The Wife this week. Kind of iconic, Glenn great in a very messy film but Olivia’s win is such a triumph.

God this whole shoot is incredible. So glad she got nominated for Best Supporting Actress and is probably going to win!! So deserved!! Performance of the year!!

I’ve been thinking this for a while (though SAG will of course give us no clues… unless Margot wins!)

I see Sandra taking BAFTA then Oscar but have no justification for this (it would also mean that she was Top 3 in their first round, which in turn would mean Emma, Carey or Margot were a jury pick, none of which seem viable).

I loved American Fiction to be honest. But I’m not sure if it deserved either of its acting nominations.

Went to see The Zone of Interest yesterday and cannot stop thinking about it.

Just like everyone that saw it, I cannot stop thinking about Zone of Interest. Beyond the immediate shock, I feel the power of the movie resides on its subtext and the questions it leaves — and the fact that it answers none of them. It’s a movie that asks a lot from the audience.
