Oscars Race 2024-25

Oh I’m out of it - oop. I need a book to be written about it. There’s so much about Old Hollywood but not so much about the 90’s.
Oh I agree, I love books that peek behind the curtain. Tab Hunter's one was riveting, reading his experiences as a gay man in 50's Hollywood. Old Hollywood was a fascinating time, but the 90's is another one that I bet has some great secrets to unearth.
Demi's shed a little bit of light but I needed more.

The problem with the supporting categories is that it can mean anything from five minutes of screen time to essentially a co-lead. Isabella was great, but how do you measure her performance against those of Zoe or Ariana who are almost never offscreen?
Her material just did not warrant a nomination in my eyes. It’s not that small roles can’t make it in, there just has to be, you know, something to work with.

I agree, she was decent but she didn't have a lot of impact (not even when she speaks up during dinner).

I think Emily Blunt in Oppenheimer is a good recent example of how a smaller role can be memorable. She wasn't part of the 'big' moments, but her interrogation scene was still a highlight and a strong way to finish her arc (and purpose in the story).

I still wish horror movies had a bigger chance at even being nominated in some categories.

My Oscar for best actress would go to Naomi Scott. I feel that her performance was just perfect.

I'm Still Here is finally available digitally and.... you know I liked Mikey and loved Demi but Fernanda Torres was the performance of the year. This film and performance will haunt me for some time.

I think I was bawling for the entire last half hour.
