Pet Shop Boys Rate. Part 1: 1985-1991. Winner.

Sorry bout the lack of commentary, somehow it slipped me.
MY FAVE FROM BEHAVIOUR HOW DARE YOU YOU BASTARDS
At least I'm in good company with that opinion i.e. Neil and Chris.

Sublime song. Typical Pet Shop Boys rewriting / using the sound of the day (the kind of SoulIISoul backing track) and taking it totally elsewhere (the melancholia of the backing vocals and the orchestra, the lyrics of course). And sublime chorus with different phases, « or as » being its main articulation. This « or as » sums up the whole Pet Shop Boys essence, actually.

Another tragic loss after You Know Where You Went Wrong and I Want A Dog. I love Please, but half of it should have gone before this holy trinity.

@TrendyMüller brought me here by "Personal Conversation" - my apologies for not entering this rate - it seemed like hard work at the time (besides I'm really into @phoenix123 's Retrochart thread these days!) but "I want a dog" and "My October symphony" out already - that's a real shame! Do we get "The truck driver and his mate" in this rate? Another song that I was living the lyrics to at the time....!

I listened to the Behaviour FL disc today, and hoped that the 12" mix of Was It Worth It? might sound different to me now, knowing how others feel about it.

Unfortunately, I still find the song shit, and the production/arrangement/vocals horrible in every way.
