PopJustice friend @livefrommelbs is not taking part in the rate, but have a nice one dear! Congrats! What a nice coincidence, right?

Track 10 from Young Foolish Happy was co-written and produced by the trio The Invisible Men, responsible for most of the early Iggy Azalea hits, Fancy included.

Same energy:

And suddenly Pixie Lott (the album), that had only one song down, takes a second hit!

Ain't got you it's one of the few tracks on the self titled album that Pixie has no writer or co-writer credits at all. It was written solely by Andrew Wyatt, whose previous work include lots of tracks for a range of diverse artists: from Liam Gallagher to Miley Cyrus, from Charli XCX to his own indie pop band Miike Snow.

Although she didn't write a word in the song, she dedicates it to then boyfriend (now fiancée) Oliver Cheshire and that's why I used that picture my friends!

Tomorrow: a tie and the first 11 will leave us!

Birthday - 6. I don't love any songs with the word 'Birthday' in the title. The lyrics in the chorus are not good.
The backing track is alright.

Ain't Got You - 6.5. Had no idea this was a cover. An average soul track but the chorus melody is nice.
PS. Any picture of Oliver Cheshire is appreciated.

How many covers can a woman have in her discography?

Min: 5.0 x 4 (@WhenTheSunGoesDown, @Phonetics Girl, @Laurence, @Verandi) 6.0 x 2 (@TwistedInnocence, @MilesAngel)

Sunflower was originally recorded by Post Malone and Swae Lee for the soundtrack of the movie Spider Man Into The Spiderverse, in 2018.

In 2019 Pixie recorded a softer version of the track.

One less cover, two to go.

Next: a tie at 49 and our first 11 falls.

Well, let's get to that tie

Couldn't come up with any pun for this song title, sorry guys!

It was written with irish singer-songwriter RuthAnne, aka the woman responsible for this classic:

Max: 11.0 (@Phonetics Girl) 8.8 (@Remorque) 8.5 (@pop3blow2)
Min: 3.0 (@saviodxl) 3.2 (@Untouchable Ace)

Poor @Phonetics Girl is the first to lose their 11 in the rate! Let's see what they had to say about it:
"Ready for my 11 to exit at like #57. I was choosing between this and Heart Cry. Look, I'm a hoe for ballads and this one always somehow stood apart from others on this album. Maybe it's the backing choir or the half-spoken middle 8. All I know is the drama levels are right. And when they're right, it's right."

Well, at least it got 8 positions above what you predicted! Without your 11 it would have left at #60!

Touching ballad Nothing Compares, from Pixie's debut album, was written with Toby Gad (we talked about him here) and country singer Kaci Brown.

Tomorrow: we're giving Young Foolish Happy a break!

Steven's steaming takes:

Nothing Compares - This is a fine weepy ballad and yet another track that sounds straight out of a musical. It's no "Jack!"

Sunflower - Another interesting take on the original song. Not totally successful but I'm intrigued by her take!

Ain't Got You - I think just because this album is a step above, I tolerate this slow album tracks a bit more.

Birthday - I wish this song were better than it is. I crave a more explosive chorus!

Live For The Moment - I have never heard this odd Pussycat Dolls throwaway before. It's...okay?

Come Get It Now - The weird hook feels very "Buff Tingaling" to me, but at least this song moves and grooves

Stevie On The Radio - Love this song but her vocals sound really weird on it.

Dream Boats and Miniskirts - Literally what the hell is this from?! I know this is a cover but this is from some VOD thing?

We Just Go On - I'm stumped by why so many of her album tracks sound exactly like this- slow and weepy. Pixie is at her best when the energy level is high.

The One (Stan Walker feat. Pixie Lott) - This is a classic Pixie weeper and you can tell she wrote it. Another credited writer? Tommy Lee JAMES.

Cry and Smile - As a proof of concept that she can sing, this is excellent. I would love to see this at an intimate gig at a Pizza Express, but as an album track, it's pretty boring.

Paper Planes - Like this very light Amy Winehouse drag she does here.

Sunflower - 6. Hadn't heard the original before. The piano is nice and the vocals are good but I'm not a fan of the song as a whole.

Love You To Death - 8.5. The lyrics are quite sad and Pixie gives a great performance that is really heartfelt and feels true to them.

Nothing Compares - 7.5. Lovely acoustic guitar and the chorus is good, but not keen on the backing vocals.

Were you expecting a cover of Exposé?

Point Of No Return was the B-Side of the single Nasty, from 2014. It was the first time in a while Pixie had a proper B-Side, the previous being If I Changed from 2009.

It was only included in the CD version of Nasty, and maybe that's why it's so hard to find it online! Thanks again @Laurence for finding this on SoundCloud, since the Youtube version was blocked in some territories.

It's a lovely 70s motown inspired track, very Duffy-esque.
Honestly I prefer this to some songs that made into album tracks!

Honestly, the right choice at this point. One of the weakest tracks of Pixie Lott the album.

The verses are quite captivating, but then the chorus ends up being disappointing.

Leaving You was written with Jerry Abbot, that was responsible for most tracks of the album, and Jim Irvin, longlife colaborator of Nothing But Thieves and Lissie.

Oh, I quite like this one!

With lyrics such "Gimme just a little break, ain't no more that I can take" and 'I'm so tired of the way the world works, they conspire trying to keep this apart", this could become a pandemic anthem if released recently!

Our complaining chant was track 11 in Pixie's debut Turn It Up.

It was co-written and produced by Peter Zizzo, whose previous work include some Celine Dion tracks and @pop3blow2 faves M2M biggest hit Don't Say You love Me.

Point Of No Return - 5. The backing track is alright but some of the singing in the chorus seems off to me.

Leaving You - 6.5. Nice enough but nothing really happens. She's done a similar thing better.

The Way The World Works - 7. I like the lyrics and chorus. The middle eight is the best part.

Let's get to the top 40 before the weekend, shall we?

This track is not exactly a BANGer, but the lyrics certainly describe an intense love: "At least we can say
We went out with a Bang, bang, bang."

The track was written with two collaborators that have worked with Miley Cyrus. The first one being Maureen Anne McDonald aka Mozella aka the responsible for Wrecking Ball . The second one is Rami Afuni, that wrote and produced several tracks from the album BANGerz. They like to use that word as a title, don't they?

Average: 6.771

Max: 9.0 (@BubblegumBoy) 8.9 (@Untouchable Ace)

Including a Jason Derulo colaboration in Pixie's debut album was kinda smart.

His own debut album had just reached top 10 in the UK. As for the singles, he'd had three top 5s, with one of them getting #1: In My Head.

He never paid the favor back as one would expect. Actually they never performed the song together, altough they met for the recording session.

This song title represents what she did to her music career to focus on other endeavours, right?

Another motown inspired track. Pretends to be shocked, indeed!

Maybe one (more) problem of Young Foolish Happy is that the producers varied so much from song to song. This one was co-written and produced by the trio known as The Matrix ( aka Lauren Christy, Graham Edwards and Scott Spock). Their previous work includes a bunch of songs for Ronan Keating, Avril Lavigne and So Yesterday by Hilary Duff.

Hands Up is quite boppy, but fills perfectly the space of the bonus track it was assigned to.

Fake

I was expecting this one to use that picture of her fake tan!

Theatrical piano led Fake was released as a one of single in 2019 and showcases Pixie's raw talent in the stage.

But then you ask: If she's not released albums since 2014, what has Pixie been doing?

Well, besides modeling and being a judge on The Voice Kids, she founded The Pixie Lott Performing Arts Academy with her sister in 2015, in order to form new talent for future generations.

She is also one of the teachers. Tell me about income diversification!
