Pixie Lott Discography Rate | We have a winner!

I'm excited to see where everything lands in the top 30. I have to admit I have very little memory of a lot of the tracks that have been eliminated so far, so it'll be fun to actually recognise what's left.
I'm sure you'll recognise the next.

Some of y'all did this one dirt!

Won't Forget You (feat. Stylo G)
Average: 7.564

Max: 10.0 x 3 (@saviodxl, @WhenTheSunGoesDown, Steve) 9.0 (@TwistedInnocence) 8.8 (@Untouchable Ace)
Min: 4.5 x 2 (@Laurence, @Remorque) 5.5 (@Phonetics Girl)

Won't Forget You was supposed to be the second single of Pixie Lott's fourth studio album (that has never seen the light of the day yet).

It was also the second single with the new label (3Beat Records) after she left Mercury Records. It was produced by DJ Anton Powers (who she also collaborated with in the song Baby).

With new label, new directions came and she took a more dance-y vibe that reflected the sound: a heavy tropical house infused song. In other words, it's a bop!

The PJers were ecstatic when she released the video (in October of 2017) with iconic look and, of course, iconic dance moves.

I will exhaustively state that sis never did the transition to sales-based-chart to streams-based-chart well. So, you guessed, it didn't reach the top 100 in the UK. It did, however, reached top 70 in the Sales Only chart. The grand public sometimes sucks! Currently the song has 4.1 million streams on Spotify. Yeah, I know some people get this daily.

I suppose that a big disadvantage was that we didn't have any decent TV performance of the track. Like this one for example, in a kids tv show, with no back dancers. Pretty cringey tbh. I mean, management, wtf?

And I have no idea who Stylo G is, sorry.

With Won't Forget You being eliminated now, not only we lose the first official single, we lose another section: Extras. I'll post a recap soon.

My Love - 10. I thought this would be more liked although maybe I overscored it slightly. I like the piano in the verses, the chorus has a great melody and lyrics are good.

Won't Forget You - 7.5. No rap feature song is going to be a favourite, but the song itself is good and I especially like the backing track under the chorus,

Let's get to the top 20 before Xmas, shall we?

Cry Baby

We lose the last bonus track of the rate!

This is Pixie's second most notable song where she demands someone to cry! You know what's the first, right?
This bop was only included in the Japanese version of the self-titled album, along The Girl You Left Behind. Why waste such a good song as a bonus track AGAIN?

Cry Baby was written with Australian pair Daniel James and Leah Haywood.

Leah had 3 top 40s in Australia in the early 2000s in case you didn't know.

Today she's more known as a songwriter, having worked with a bunch of popstars including Aly & AJ, Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez.

Speaking of Selena Gomez...

Not @WhenTheSunGoesDown losing three 10s in a row, but also losing a track from the album that (I guess) gave his PopJustice name!

This was the last studio album of Selena Gomez with The Scene, released in 2011 (after that she was just Selena Gomez. When is Florence ditching The Machine?). Including Pixie was a smart play of the label, kinda building her name in international territories (mainly in the US) just a few months before the release of All About Tonight.

I figured it got Selena's fans like "who's that Pixie girl? Let me Google her".

Only 3 collaborations left: with Tinchy, David Bisbal and Anton Powers. You like Boy+Girl collab more than Girl+Girl collab apparently!

Well, we have two ties next: at #23 and #21.

Cry Baby - 8. The chorus lyrics are slightly repetitive but the melody is good and I love the production, especially the percussion and the beat.

We Own The Night - 8. Pixie and Selena sound good together and it's a nice writing credit for Pixie.
I thought it was a cover at first because it sounds like a classic track (which is a compliment).

... and Mandy Moore! The first song she wrote for another artist post her solo career was 'Top Of The World'.

I'm a fan of hers.

I aways wanted to like 'We Own The Night' more than I do. It's pretty good though, a solid B bop, to me. I did think it would go top 20, here.

Let's go to a double elimination: a tie. An album takes a double hit

Ocean
Average: 7.771

Max: 10.0 x 2 (@pop3blow2, @MilesAngel) 9.5 (@Phonetics Girl) 9.0 (@BubblegumBoy)

Ocean is one of many songs Pixie wrote with the duo Jim Irvin, Jerry Abbott. We already talked about them when Leaving You (our #47) was ousted.

Ocean is a grower. It starts really slow and gradually grows the beat reaching an exploding chorus, with drums you can't help but notice. Sis compares feelings with the tides and tears with the sea. The kinda drama we like.

@Verandi and I giving that 4 point something average.

On our way to tank the rate rest of the nothingness here.

Not both of you giving the minimum scores again... But you disagreed regarding the other #23...

Shout out to all the girls suffering in the hands of a man! Pixie gives a piece of advice (maybe beyond boundaries, but who am I to say) to ladies in a toxic relationship, summarised in the verse How Can I Just Kill A Man?

This track was one of the faves of the critics when Pixie Lott the album was released, with them saying it suits her persona and of course, praising the killing vocals.

With that, Pixie Lott and Young Foolish Happy have the same number of songs left: five. How did you let that happen? I look at this song title and have thoughts...

Next up: another tie at #21, our last, and a recap of the top 20.

The only track I really want to fuck off now is Heart Cry.
Kill all men. And Nasty WTF
Not so soon for any of you I'm afraid...

Till The Sun Comes Out
Average: 7.786

Max: 9.2 (@pop3blow2) 9.0 (@MilesAngel) 8.9 (@saviodxl)
Min: 7.0 (Steve, @Verandi) 7.2 (@Untouchable Ace)

We have a new higher lower score! If Till The Sun is not the best album track of Young Foolish Happy, it's at least the most uplifting!

Surprisingly it was written by the same guys who wrote Everybody Hurts Sometimes, because one is a boring ballad and the other one is a bop!

Break Up Song
Average: 7.786

Break Up Song had the pretty much the same destiny of Can't Make This Over: it was supposed to be a single, had a video shot and everything (with her gorgeous boyfriend this time), but eventually it was scrapped!

And I quote what I wrote about it when doing a memory lane post.
Like performing Break up Song to an audience with a bunch of kids clearly not giving a damn and having to change the lyrics to make sure there was no sexual innuendo. I mean, sis, your management has been better!
WRONG CHOICES ALL OVER AGAIN! Honestly, I'm glad this didn't make top 20. Which I'm posting a recap of right away!

Til The Sun Comes Out - 9. Great piano and horn section. My favourite part is the moment in the chorus with the lyrics 'The words you say don't work, 'cause they don't hurt.'

Ocean - 10. Using the ocean as a metaphor for tears has been done before, but how it's used here is fantastic.
The ocean either carries away an ex-lover, or can be used to 'sail away' from the past. The way the production surges and swells to suggest the rising of the tide is thrilling.

Broken Arrow was the first and only single of the re-released version of Pixie's debut album: Turn It Up Louder.

The single peaked at #12 in the UK and catapulted the album back to the top 10 again after 19 weeks it had missed it.

The song was in the soundtrack of the movie Beastly, starring Vanessa Hudgens, Mary Kate Olsen and Neil Patrick Harris. You can actually hear the track in the trailer:
