Pixie Lott Discography Rate | We have a winner!

Ok, let's go down memory lane once again. Maybe I'll do it with all the singles. Maybe I won't!

It's time for the third single of Pixie's career: Cry Me Out! I adore this song. Me, enjoying a power ballad?
Somebody call @Ana Raquel to talk some sense into my head! But yeah, Cry Me Out hit me like a shot when I first listened to it! The first verse is probably one of the best first verses, like, ever in a ballad: "I got your emails, you just don't get females now, do you?". Iconic, genius, hacker skills, deep.
After two bops, it was an interesting choice to show her soft side to the public and she did it with mastery.

The single was released in late November of 2009, after more than 2 months its parent album (Turn It Up) was already out. Releasing singles after the public had access to the album was still a good thing back then! But not exactly chart-wise for this specific song as it debuted outside of the top 100 in the UK. In its second week it went to #45 and eventually peaked at #12 in its sixth week. Let's see her chart neighbours that week

Despite missing the top 10 completely, it became a crowd sing-along pleaser and one of the songs Pixie likes to perform the most.
Everyone singing the first chorus here makes me shiver! And of course, Pixie's vocals!

Cry Me Out also became a talent show go to song, being performed even in foreign versions of The Voice and X Factor. This one is cute: the little guy performs the track just to get Pixie's chair turned. Best part (2:23) is when Danny says "I like it" and Pixie responds "it's my song!".

And with that, I remind that you have 3 weeks to send me your ballot!
Will you guys need an extension?

Can I just pop by to say that this appearance is possibly my fave* from La Lott? And also one of my favourite charity singles too.

*I’m not familiar with her discography at all, can you tell?

I may well participate in this as I quite fancy starting to dip my toes into rates run by fellow song contest sisters. I’ll get listening #soon.

Well, I had four 10s and my 11, and was constantly changing it. Maybe I'll change it again dddd.

I'm hoping to get my best friend's votes in as well
Even if they're not in the forum, get their scores to me on the side ;) @DJHazey had his mom's scores in the 80s Divas Rate, so that shouldn't be a problem I guess.

Welcome to the rate @Doodvid ! You'll see she has many bops, some nice ballads and some trash.

Memory lane time! I'm finally talking about
that's not the song that really got me into her (more on that later)
Yeah, it's Pixie's 4th single: Gravity! The song that got me into her!

But why this song, considering I'm not even 10ing it, you ask. Well, it was the first song that her label decided to promote here in my land! The first track of hers that got some radio airplay here and the music video was on great rotation on MTV back in the day. I could finally show tasteless people how she sounded and looked like! I remember the radio and tv presenters constantly referring to her as "the cute girl from England". Not everyone has that! It became a minor hit here in Brazil.

In the UK, the song made its first appearance in the charts in the second week of February of 2010 at #73. The song was only officially released as a single in the beginning of March and peaked at #20 in its sixth week. I suppose the label wanted to avoid the end of the year turmoil of the charts, but one ballad (Cry Me Out) followed by another one didn't have the expected effect. To be fair, in the week Gravity peaked there was only one new entry in the top 20, so it was not that bad!

To be honest, the track is not really easy to be performed live, some wouldn't hold those notes like Pixie does:

Gravity was compared to Jordin Sparks' No Air and the fact that Glee had performed the song in the show around the same time and was even charting with it didn't help!

Either way, a lovely track by our cute girl from England.

I’m gonna start rating during work this week!
Well, I'm starting a new job next week. Let's hope I can keep up with everything + do my job decently dddd.

Well, let's close the Turn It Up cycle, shall we?

The adorable title track was chosen as the 5th (!!!) single of the album, three months after Gravity (in June 2010). After two ballads it was nice to see a lifting track being promoted and performed again:

Turn it Up got its peak at #11 in its forth week in the charts.

Well, when Turn It Up (the album) was originally released in 2009, it debuted and peaked at #6, in a week packed with new releases. I dare to say stiff competition was the factor that got her out of the top 5:

Then in October of 2010 the label decided to re-release the album as a deluxe version called Turn It Up Louder (1 year a and month after its original release), with 7 new songs and 2 covers that were included in the digital versions of previous singles (Use Somebody and When Love Takes Over).
They really wanted to make the most of this album, didn't they?

Well, the strategy paid off, as the album returned to the top 10 (at #9) in its following week, after a lot of weeks navigating between #60 and #30.
In total, Turn It Up (album) spent 97 weeks in the charts! A mark that her other albums wouldn't get close to and some artists would kill to have!

To accompany the re-release of the album, we had a 6th and final official single: Broken Arrow. Yeah, you guessed, another emotional track.
Emma Bunton introducing her here, I mean, can this get more adorable?

Broken Arrow debuted and peaked at #12 in a weird week that saw Pixie as the highest female in the charts, with the likes of CeeLoo Green, Bruno Mars and Joe McEldery at the top.

Can't Make This Over had a music video and everything, but was never given a proper single treatment. In fact, the track had two music videos! One backwards version and one Forwards version (I mean, why?)

That closed the Turn It Up era! 6 top 20 singles, a top 10 album and an increase in popularity in such a short time that made Pixie one of the hottest pop faces mainly in the UK, but also in continental Europe. And as I mentioned earlier, reaching mild success in Brazil and also in New Zealand and Australia!

What would come next? Well, you know...
